There is gas in Athens

So far.

Business looked good for Athens Transit on Monday.

Buses were full – and grew even more crowded as gas tanks emptied across Northeast Georgia – but managers of the 22-route system didn’t know how long they could keep up.

As car-owners saw neighborhood gas stations run dry, hundreds more people than usual took the bus. Wednesday, ridership jumped by 1,800 trips in a single day.
