Fiat in Albany

Is this typical?

It seems infighting among certain Dougherty County School Board members has stirred unrest among state Democratic Party members as well.
Andre Walker, a Georgia Democratic Party committee member representing Fulton County, sent an e-mail Tuesday to the party’s executive committee members demanding an explanation as to why Richard Anson was placed on the Democratic ballot without going through the Dougherty County Democratic chair, Constance Burkes.

The Dougherty County Board of Registration and Elections office confirmed that Democratic Party Chair Jane Kidd sent a fax Aug. 6 on behalf of the executive committee requesting that Anson replace Judith Corbett on the ballot after she withdrew from the race.

“Basically, the issue is violating local control over local issues,” Walker said. “It’s a matter of disrespect for the state party not to even pick up the phone and call Dr. Burkes.”

Burkes said Wednesday that the state party had still not contacted the local party concerning Anson’s placement on the ticket.

So, I walk outside to get the Albany Herald “before day in the morning” and there Andre is on the front page.

Party this and party that aside, Dr. Anson is/was a white professor at Albany State University and was always cool with the pol sci majors he greeted in the hall–one of the good guys.

    Go ASU Rams

    “Beat Fort Valley”

  2. Gag Halfrunt says:

This is just the latest move in Andre’s strategy to grab control of the Zell Miller wing of the party. I understand that he has asked to speak at the Republican state convention next year. But I could be mistaken.

  3. Andre Walker says:

Yeah, I was asked to speak at the Republican state convention until I informed the convention organizers that I intended to delivering a scathing speech against the Republican Party and endorse the Democratic nominee for governor.

    Then they withdrew their invitation.

Albany has a black strom cloud hanging over it that will only disapear after a couple more generations pass. Until then, it will only plug along always looking back and obsessed at its own horrible history.

  5. alisha says:

perhaps they didnt call dr burkes because she is bat-shit crazy and they assumed that she would have sent them a bill for her time after they hung up the phone
