Here’s the part that you’re still missing. We don’t need “more” oil, we need “different” oil. Oil that doesn’t transfer $800 billion of wealth annually to people that want to kill us. Open up all areas to drilling, but couple that with some kind of restriction/excise tax on imported oil.

You keep talking about alternatives, but the only proven alternative that we can switch to today is nuclear. How much mention did nuclear get in the bill your party shoved through the house last night? NONE.

The goal of the dems, under pressure from the Al Gore carbon credit trading types, is to allow no new carbon fuel. It helps with your anti-globalization anarchist types too. You’re more afraid someone, somewhere, might make a profit than making sure our country actually has some kind of proven energy souce we can depend on, all the while holding out promises for research and development of magic unicorns.

Focusing on drilling for more oil will never allow America to kick its oil habit. It’s like having a cocaine problem and an adding feeding their habit by getting more cocaine. Just one more high, just one more high.

Instead of focusing on a 19th Century technology we need to look the future and technologies that can actually end our dependence on oil, not feeding our habit even more.
