More amusement for South Georgia coming

Plans are afoot for another amusement park, this time in Cordele. Isn’t that Titan rocket along I-75 enough excitement?

Real estate developer Don Adkins told members of the city commission here Tuesday that investors are planning construction of an amusement park near exit 99 on I-75.

The 116-acre facility will be called “Charlie’s Town” and Adkins defined it as “Cordele’s own version of Wild Adventures.”

He said the investor, Ashford Ventures out of Texas, is taking an aggressive approach and hopes to have the facility ready to open by Memorial Day of 2009. The park will employ roughly 450 people when completed, Adkins said.
