Busy Plane

Just got up to St. Paul. On the plane with me were Karen and Steve Handel, Joe Scarborough, Phil Gingrey, Mark Burkhalter, and scores of other Republicans.

It should be an interesting week. And with nothing to do tomorrow night now, there should be lots of good parties.

  1. TPNoGa says:

Hey guys! I have a question. Where is McCain’s local campaign office? I am located at the top-end of the perimeter in the ATL. I need to get some McCain/Palin bumperstickers and yard-signs. I am now excited about this election. Please, someone tell where I can get some for free. I may be excited, but I am still cheap.

  2. CHelf says:

Erick, just don’t say anything stupid on the plane. “Left wing nuts” might be recording everything. Amazing how someone gets flak for praying for rain on Obama’s speech but when someone says God’s on their side when a deadly and destructive storm times itself for the GOP convention, nothing is said…

  3. liberator says:

Vote Barr in 2008! “Lots of good parties” Does Prince have a club in his hometown? Any Nude Bars there?

  4. bowersville says:

How about those damned ole green, yellow, and orange signs Liberator?

Did we burn them and send them to hell?

  5. boyreporter says:

Republicans partying: Woo-hoo! Tax cuts! Accuse Democrats of hating Down Syndrome babies and leaving them to die! Woo-hoo! GOPeach in a wet t-shirt contest! Woo-hoo!

  6. bowersville says:

BR, you are full of it. Your Obama said he wants to support your political outlook. Put those unwanted down syndrome babies in the closet and let them DIE!

  7. bowersville says:

BR you are the only delusional impotent on the board. You mentioned GOPeach in a wet t-shirt contest, not me.

Doesn’t say much for you. But again, Ms Palin on the ticket against that Connecticut Yankee says it all, don’t you agree?

  8. albert says:

bowersville, the leftist have buyers remorse. They choked on the political chicken bone when McCain gave us someone who looks more like America than all the washed up politicos out there.

So what’s a good Democrat to do. Like they always do whine and trash folks with smear. No worries about facts, deny them.

So their man is a closet racist. So what if he wines and dines with terrorists (Ayers). So what if he and his political cronies rig up a real estate deal… No worries, just denials.

Now the boyreporter wants to see some gal who posts on the pundit in a wet tee shirt… Different strokes for different folks.

  9. bowersville says:

Albert, it’s worse than buyers remorse. If Obama figures out a way to kick Biden off the ticket, he will.

Watch Biden cave “in the best interest” of the country.

  10. albert says:

We’re watching the clock. Saw 60 minutes last night, the big O was obviously getting annoyed at Biden’s grandstanding. Thought it was hilarious. The two deserve each other.

  11. Harry says:

    From Haaretz:

Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden was quoted Monday as telling senior Israeli officials behind closed doors that the Jewish state will have to reconcile itself to a nuclear Iran. In the unsourced report, Army Radio also quoted Biden as saying that he opposed “opening a additional military and diplomatic front.” Biden, chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has long been considered strongly pro-Israel. His nomination as Barack Obama’s running mate had been expected to shore up the Democrats’ strength with U.S. Jewish voters.

  12. Tea Party says:

How can THAT help shore up Dem strength with U.S. Jewish voters?

@Peach-ette – What did you hope to accomplish with the’Airplane’ clip? Funny sketch, but really a cheesy association…

  13. boyreporter says:

Harry: Thanks for the pick of GOPeach. I thought it was Madeline Albright at first.

JK: Cross the line? You guys are so far over the line, way beyond decency, it’s pathetic. GOPeach and her idiotic Youtube crap is probably the most honest of the lot — she speaks for the “conservative” viewpoint hereabouts, and it’s a bit uncomfortable I guess.

  14. Romegaguy says:

    GOPeach = Shirley Phelps Roper

So who is going to be the first to mention Palin’s 17 year old daughter being preggers?

  15. albert says:

Romegaguy,,, and who is going to be the first to mention that Obama is Bill Clinton’s love child. Remember that story a few years back… Maybe he grew up to carry on the legacy.

This is as stupid as your post.

  16. Tea Party says:

A very good Dem friend sent me something on this:

    “By Steve Holland
    Monday, 1 September 2008
The Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has announced that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Palin’s five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said, says daugheterdecided ‘on her own’ to keep the baby. ”

Life is what happens when you are out making plans…

    Who cares?

  17. albert says:

Tea Party, perhaps she should have aborted it….

The Dems are showing that they are the slime they’ve tried to deny for so long. Stuff happens.

  18. boyreporter says:

albert: what slime? You guys — like Bowelsville –surely do jump way off point…eager to throw a bit of slime even before anyone else has.

  19. Donkey Kong says:

Precisely, boy reporter. We should all learn how to avoid personal attacks and stick to reasoned arguments from you, such as the following:

Bowelsville, you are deluded, psychotic and pitiful. Did I mention liar? Get help.

As the resident expert on congeniality, it would be a great help to us all if you would write a guidebook for us misinformed commenters to follow.

  20. bowersville says:

So, now the left wing slime can have a conniption over Bristol being pregnant and actually carrying the baby to term instead of into the closet to DIE.

Now, Boy Reporter, where am I lieing? Brack Omama was on that Illinois Senate committee listening to that testimony about babies dieing in the closet.

  21. boyreporter says:

DK: Who said anything about congeniality?

Bowels: I take it back. You are Truth personified. Please keep it up. You and Peach make own goals so often the other side doesn’t have to work up a sweat. Oh, and Peach: saying you’re not racist certainly settles any such argument.

  22. hayek_lives says:

Folks, I hate to be too rational, but there are ways to prevent unwanted pregnancy besides abstinence and abortion. (I’m sure that some of you lucky-ducks use such methods on a regular basis.)

It’s too bad that the future VP doesn’t believe in teaching adolescents in schools about said contraception. Instead, her ideology says that it should be up to parents, and parents alone, to inform kids about preventing pregnancy.

Obviously, she didn’t teach her child about them; or if she did, she didn’t teach her daughter properly. That’s too bad.

It’s Gov. Palin’s judgment that is and should be a concern for everybody. She’ll be a heartbeat from the Presidency. If that’s the case, there are legitimate questions about her judgment:
Will she govern and make policy based on her ideology?
Or, will she be willing to incorporate reality and make appropriate distinctions on issues like sex-ed?

This is my concern if she becomes our VP; and it is legitimate to ask such questions of a woman running for VP.

  23. Progressive Dem says:

The manner in which pregnancy of Palin’s daughter has been discovered is another indication that McCain campaign did not properly vett Palin. If the McCain campaign was aware, they would have managed the story by carefully leaking it to a trusted reporter who would respectfully present the story. Instead the facts are going to come out in an uncontrolled manner that could prove harmful to the campaign.

At the end of the day, McCain’s first decision seems to have been rushed with incomplete information. That isn’t very presidential.

  24. bowersville says:

Palin has a high school daughter that got pregnant. You Demwits are amazing in your absolute stupid judgement. This isn’t the first time a highschooler got pregnant nor will it be the last time.

At best, Bristol carries the child to term. At worst Biden tells Israel they must get accustomed to living with a nuclear Iran.

Now which is it? Have a baby or give up to Iran, that little nation that isn’t a threat according to Omama and Biden.

  25. bowersville says:

Hayek—whatever, you shouldn’t worry about being too rational because you are not. MILF? In your dreams.

  26. Bill Simon says:

“Obviously, she didn’t teach her child about them; or if she did, she didn’t teach her daughter properly. That’s too bad.”

RIGHT, because kids ALWAYS follow what their parents say…(not!).

Hayek, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

  27. Progressive Dem says:

For a party that is excellent in managing the daily news cycle, the GOP really laid an egg with Bristol. 😉

  28. Ronin says:

How would you all respond if Obama’s daughter was 17 and pregnant? Wouldn’t it be chalked up to “permissive liberalism” instead of “the blessing of a baby”?

    Just askin’.

  29. liberator says:

Bowersville, what signs are we talking about? Rage Against The Machine are playing in Minnesota during the GOP convention. That should be a blast!

  30. bowersville says:

Liberator, just poking at you. You hopefully recall me making a spectical over those green, yellow and orange signs along I-85 north towards the SC line.

I didn’t have anything to do with it, but Lavonia burned those signs at a huge marsmellow roast.

  31. boyreporter says:

Hayek, Progressive and Ronin: Well said.

Bowelsville: Your lies include charges people on the other side of your “world” want to kill babies. You may interpret in the worst possible way whatever you wish, but your demented take doesn’t turn what you say into fact. Far from it.

Peach: I choose a man: you.

  32. bowersville says:

BR, where did I say people on the other side of the “world” want to kill babies. Where did Omama speak up for the babies born before they could get the scissors in their head?

Is that a lie Boy Reporter or is it INFANTICIDE?

  33. tb says:

Who gives a flying pig if Bristol Palin is pregnant? How is that relevant in any way shape or form. There was no cover up, no improper vets, …McCain was aware of it anyway.

Go Sarah Palin.. I am truly truly energized even more now than ever.

If you go to http://www.johnmccain.com you can get bumper stickers for a buck a piece. You can also get info there about Georgia campaign offices for McCain… search around the site, it’s a good one.

  34. Three Jack says:

“How would you all respond if Obama’s daughter was 17 and pregnant?”

first response; which doctor performed the abortion.

  35. Game Fan says:

Please don’t start with the eggs and the zygotes. In ancient Sparta they left defective babies out in the woods. Of course there were a couple that were raised by wolves. Romulus and Andy.

  36. tb says:

Bill Orielly was talking about the rumor mill of the daily kos.. he said that some nbc people blog over there…don’t know if that’s true or not, but sure makes me go hmmmmm….

  37. hayek_lives says:

    tb –

I made the mistake of watching some cable tv coverage of the palin pregnancy story.

What I’ve noticed is that when a story is really bad, people want to change the subject by making counter-accusations. Right now, the McCain folks and some of their allies on the radio and Fox are trying to make the story about liberal bloggers and how vicious they are.

We all know that bloggers of all political stripes can say some pretty nasty stuff; and when the news is bad for the other side, the schadenfreude rises to a fever pitch.

Instead of scrutinizing who writes what about whom, Fox would be better-off by being fair and balanced. Talk about how both sides’ families are scrutinized/demagogued, the efficacy of comprehensive sex education, etc…

Frankly, it’s a bit whiny of conservatives to complain about nasty comments by anonymous bloggers. You might as well make the story about bathroom graffiti.

  38. Dems love the gutter. They thrive on it. It happened, so what. Millions make poor choices. What you folks love to do is make America pay for those poor choices.

I’m thrilled with McCain’s pick. She’s tenacious and has built a career on exposing waste and fraud.

It used to be protocol to keep children out of the political fray. Apparently, 2008 is different.

  39. This media circus over the child begs a question. Now that the Dems and the mainstream media have made this an issue, does that now set the benchmark for other elected leaders, to air their personal shortcomings?

If it does, let the games begin….

  40. tb says:

uh…hayek? whiney? sorry but people’s childrens do not need to be thrown in the mix ..ever. Now if there was a political discussion about teen pregnancy, without having had to drag the daughter into it, fine.

Then the Kos had some particularly vile rumor about the baby with DS too…. ya know, is there any shame any more. Anonymous does not give a person the license to be irresponsible.

  41. Bill Simon says:

Here’s a newsflash: A lot of the Dem bloggers are paid by the Obama campaign with WAM…”walking around money” not disclosed on the campaign disclosures.

Hayek, are you one of those lucky ones?

  42. Most of the folks that write and read on this blog are prominent politicos from various parts of the state, from the major Parties.

Would someone comment on my question? Because if it is fair game, I suggest every Republican, including me, utilize every bit of scandal and smear on their opponent, as this has established a new standard. Opposition reseaarch yields some very interesting facts. Most I would consider off limits as it doesn’t involve government, but private issues.

Here’s the question again. This media circus over the child begs a question. Now that the Dems and the mainstream media have made this an issue, does that now set the benchmark for other elected leaders, to air their personal shortcomings?

If it does, let the games begin….

  43. John Konop says:

This is very interesting, why did mcCain not just pick Ron Paul?

MTV-Back in February, on Super Tuesday, MTV News Street Teamer Dani Carlson did a Flixwagon interview with Alaska Governor — and now presumptive Republican vice-presidential candidate — Sarah Palin, who had some interesting things to say about energy policy and the “party machinery.”

In this interview, Palin calls controversial Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul “cool.” “He’s a good guy,” she added. “He’s so independent. He’s independent of the party machine. I’m like, ‘Right on, so am I.’ ”

She also spoke about feeling allegiance with former presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. “He said all the right things about resource development in Alaska,” she said. “I didn’t have an opportunity to speak to all the candidates, but again, it’s not my job to speak to all the candidates and tell Americans who to vote for. That’s Americans’ jobs, to figure out what candidates are standing for. That’s the voters’ jobs.”

  44. jkga says:

    Maurice Atkinson-

First, let me say that I don’t think that it was appropriate for any bloggers to spread the ridiculous rumors about Palin’s baby, and that the actual truth of her daughter’s pregnancy has little or no bearing on her fitness for the position. A huge number of people who post at Daily Kos also feel the same way; if you looked at any of the diaries on the topic, you’d see about an even split in the comments between “This is probably not true and it’s just not right to be saying it even if it is true” and “Well, they’d do the same to us, so anything is fair game.” And at no time did the “front page” feature any of the scurrilous rumors.

Second, you probably don’t know this, but the rumors first appeared in Alaskan politics blogs, and were promulgated by Republican opponents of Palin, not Democrats.

Third, if you think this is the first time that a candidate’s family/personal life has been targeted through lies and innuendo in a political campaign, you’re dreaming. You know, Rove’s attacks on McCain in South Carolina in 2000.

Finally, if there was any dirt on Obama, we’d know about it already – that was a pretty intense primary.

  45. John Konop says:

I do think this could open up a debate about the abortion issue. This situation does open up issues like minors rights via the abortion issue. Should we have exceptions, via age, rape, life of mother…..? Should sexual education be taught in schools? How much should teenagers now about contraception? Is contraception abortion?

But both sides should not use the issue or other like it as a personal attack machine but why not have the debate?

  46. Chris says:

Because Paul said he had no interest in being #2 to any of the other candidates. Because Ron Paul is a porker who requests lots of earmarks, then votes against the apporpriation bills. Because he endorsed Don Young. Because Ron Paul surrounds himself with bigots like Lew Rockwell.

  47. Three Jack says:

ditto cf plus ron paul’s older than mccain. don’t see the benefit of adding a hypocrite to the gop ticket.

  48. jkga, The Reed attack on McCain was proven to be unfounded and remained a blog and politico story, not primetime news.

My question doesn’t refer to Obama at all. His issues have been out there for months. My thinking is that this bunch has set a new benchmark which translate into local races. I hardly doubt the Dems or anyone else want to migrate in this gutter.

Some of this opposition research is pretty trailer court trashy and/or sinister. Local media often ignores this. Perhaps they won’t any longer.

So answer the basic question. Inquiring minds would love to know.

  49. John, McCain wants to win. Ron Paul, as respected as he is, could not generate enough votes to put him over the top. Frankly, as much as I liked Huckabee, I doubt think any of the field could have given enough energy to move the election. I think Palin does. She’s conservative, articulate, a new face, a great campaigner and fights corruption. What more would this Party want?

  50. John Konop says:

    Maurice Atkinson

I think you are right Palin energizes the base. But McCain was gaining on Obama with disenfranchised Hillary supporters. The real question is does energizing the base out weigh the potential lose of Hillary supporters?

  51. John Konop says:

    Chris Farris

Who is Don Young? And why do you call Lew Rockwell racist? Most the articles I have read from Lew Rock are about being fiscally conservative. It is not a site I know that much about other than the few articles I have read. I will say you are usually on top of the issues and that is why I am asking the question.

  52. Bill Simon says:

“Finally, if there was any dirt on Obama, we’d know about it already – that was a pretty intense primary.”

HMMmmmm…some dude by the name of Larry Sinclair might disagree with you.

According to Sinclair, the Dem bloggers (who are being paid by the Obama campaign via a third party vendor) shut his sites down prior to the Dem convention. Sites can be shut down with denial of service requests slamming a server so it is not an unheard of thing.

Sinclair claims that in 1999, he and Obama got together for some oral sex and the intake of drugs up their noses.

    Here is his Website:

  53. Progressive Dem says:

    Sad, Bill. Sad.

Sinclair has never been able to substantiate his baseless charges. He has a 27 year criminal record that includes a 16 year prison sentence for forgery. He accepted a challenge to take a polygraph test worth a $100,000 if he could pass it regarding his statements. He failed. This man has no credibility, which is why the media never brings it up.

So Bill, are you proud of your post?

  54. Bill Simon says:

I listened and read Sinclair’s press conference where he admitted he was all of those things.

Sinclair has some VERY valid points about lie detector tests: They are NEVER reliable enough for a court of law.

As far as “substantiating” his charges, if he has no credibility, why did Dem bloggers shut his Websites down? What are you clowns so worried that what he might claim is true? If you weren’t worried, you would have let him alone.

Sad? Hardly, PD. What is sad is that you think people like me actually give a sh*t about what your opinion is on…anything.

How much are you getting paid by Obama to blog?

  55. Three Jack says:

hadn’t seen the larry sinclair story before. interesting and i agree with bill, semi-believable.

real simple to prove, get the cellular records. file a foia request in illinois.

  56. albert says:

I say burn the leftist democraps. They’re nothing but cow dung anyway. Go Bill!!! The filthy bastards!!! Paybacks a bitch.

  57. Bill Simon says:

Soug Sez: “Everyone wants to “get” their opponents, no matter how baseless.”

Yeahhhh…Sinclair would want to “get Obama” so bad with a story where he admits his crimes against society and admits to blowing Obama (while using crack cocaine) so he can be publicly derided by the multitude of people from the Dem side of town who attacked him.

Yeahhhh…THAT makes a LOT of sense! (not!)

Sinclair does not seem to be the type of person who would BE a Republican, so what would be his alternative angle?

  58. Doug Deal says:

There are more things that motivate people than politics. It is just a small percentage of mentally ill folks that think politics is everything.

15 minutes of fame is a big motivator for some. Maybe he is a PUMA.

  59. boyreporter says:

“I say burn the leftist democraps. They’re nothing but cow dung anyway. Go Bill!!! The filthy bastards!!! Paybacks a bitch.”

Watch your language, “albert.” Don’t call Sarah that.

  60. albert says:

Maybe just maybe Larry Sinclair is who he say he is, a low life who gave Barack Obama a hummer in the back of a limo while snorting cocaine and smoking crack…
