We’re 47!

SAT scores are out. We stink. Cox says the results show more work is needed.

And good night! See you next year and be sure to tip your waitress.

SAT scores? who cares, when does kathy with a k appear on that foxworthy show?

DoubleDawg3 08.26.08 at 7:31 pm

When is she on the show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” It’s a shame they don’t stick her with GA 5th graders as her “lifelines”…that’d be far more appropriate.

Kathy Cox will be on “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” on Sept. 5, and you can bet all of Ga. will be glued to their TV’s.

Georgia Education will never change until we are given school choice for every single child.

We need to limit who takes the SAT. Having a pulse does not qualify. If a child is not planning on attending college they should not be taking the SAT.

great idea, just eliminate those who drag scores down. maybe kathy with a k should do that on the k-12 tests that 80% failed this past year.

How many of the top 10 have school choice programs? I’m seriously asking because I don’t know.

HeroV,

I dunno, but there’s a pretty major variable no one has brought up yet, namely what percentage of the high school population in a given state actually take the test:

Folks are wondering what might be wrong with the schools?

According to our county commission website, a retired principal in our school system who has been a county commissioner since 1990, earned her Ph.D degree(s) from what has been described as a mail order fraud program.

I asked the question on my blog back on August 17th but not one person replied.

The webpage says Dr. Thomas graduated with a Ph.D. in Psychology/Educational Administration from the University of North America

Google “University of North America”

Are there any academics here who can shed a little light on what it takes to obtain a dual degree as this title suggests?

I blogged on it here

http://savannahchannel.com/go/bbs/board.php?bo_table=savannah_news&wr_id=272

The link to the county website page is here

http://www.chathamcounty.org/department_freeform_T7_R56.html

The screen capture is here

I wonder how long it will take for the page to be updated?

Are we expected to believe “Dr. Thomas’ family are lifelong members of FairLawn Baptist Church and First Bryan Baptist Church”.

What are we to believe?

Wait a minute. Alabama is #19? I thought they were always behind us.
And Maine, with all it’s elite, is #50? Did the world just stop spinning?

Three Jack - The 80% you speak of are taking the SAT too. At least the few that don’t drop out at 16.

umustbekidding 08.27.08 at 3:19 pm

BTW - we are #46. Tied with Florida. Not that is really matters.

Icarus,

Have you ever heard of fake PhD’s?

DutchDawg 08.28.08 at 11:16 am

This is an easily fixed problem. Have the teachers and administrators stop encouraging kids who will never go to college to take the SAT. Not only do we allow these kids to take it with no gpa qualification, but our teachers actually ENCOURAGE it. Simple solution. We are the only region who does this. What’s the point besides dragging our statewide scores down?

Wow, Peach Pundit is 47 years old. But I don’t think Peach Pundit was around in 1961. Maybe in newsletter form, but maybe not in internet form.
