1. Chris says:

Anyone verified he lives in Georgia?

And is it me, or does the LP have a deeper bench that the Georgia Dems? Maybe Martin can run after he loses to Saxby. Is he allowed to use Harry Reid and Chuck Shumer’s money for that race?

  2. envirodawg says:

    Nice guy, can’t win.

None of these news reports ever mention that he has ran for Governor before. In 1998 he finished third in the Democratic primary, and not a particularly close third.

At the time he was the incumbent Labor Commissioner so he should have had a better fundraising base.

So what makes anyone think he will do better this time?

  3. kcordell says:

I’m not familiar with Poythress but, anyone who can make it harder for Casey Cagel is welcome to the race.

  4. North Ga Indy says:

Heck! I could think of better candidates for the Democrats. My suggested candidates are Labor Commissioner Thurmond, State House Minority Leader Porter, St. Sen’s. Golden and Von Bremen, Atlanta Mayor Franklin, Atty. Gen. Baker, 06′ lieutenant Governor candidates Martin, Hecht, Loston, and Miles, Secy. of St. candidates Buckner, Hicks, Moore, Holcomb, and Reddy, Ex-Secy. of St. Cox, Fmr. Lt. Gov. Taylor, St. Reps. Glanton, Starr, Jordan, and Crawford, Congressmen Barrow, Marshall, Bishop, Lewis, Johnson, and Scott, Fmr. Congresswoman Majette, Fmr. PSC Commissioner Burgess, and Fmr. Gov. Barnes.

  5. North Ga Indy says:

My favorites on that list are Martin, Hecht, Hicks(even though i’d like to see him run for Secretary of State again), Glanton, Starr and Barrow.
