This is very interesting

A real whodunnit.

A barrage of computer-generated phone calls left a trail of frightened voters from Carroll County to Commerce on election day last week, but the messages may not have broken any laws and officials may never know who’s behind them.

Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel’s office still is investigating the calls, and officials won’t comment on the investigation or say whether they think the calls were legal, said Matt Carrothers, Handel’s spokesman.

Any of you get these calls?

Let me engage in some pure and unsubstantiated blogger speculation for a moment…..

I wonder if there was a demographic pattern to these calls. Say for instance the recipients were black.

Who could have possibly benefited from increasing black turnout in the runoffs?
