Did Obama and Georgia Dems pull the rug out from under Snuggles?

The Snuggles camp thinks so:

Our information comes from several sources. We cannot identify one. The other is Rev. Kenneth Walker, who was a top strategist for Jones’ campaign.

Said Walker: “I know for a fact, as Vernon’s strategist, that there was a meeting in Sen. Harry Reid’s office with David Axelrod from Obama’s campaign, and there was an agreement Obama’s campaign would help Jim Martin with the direct mail linking Vernon and George Bush.”

One mail piece hit mailboxes last Friday. The other hit on Monday, the day before the election.

Jones had tried to link himself with Obama during the campaign with his own mailers, including one in which his photo appeared next to Obama’s. But Obama said during an Atlanta appearance he had not endorsed Jones.

The Obama campaign and the Georgia Dems deny it all.

Caroline Adelman, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, said, “We were not involved in any way in that campaign. Neither the senator nor the campaign was involved.”

Georgia Democratic Party spokesman Martin Matheny said Thursday, “As far as us raising any money for Jim Martin, the charge is silly and it’s fatuous – and where’s the proof?”

When spokespersons preface comments with “I know for a fact” you can rest assured they’re just pulling “facts” out of their, uh, bodily orifices.

    I agree with SpaceyG…

    – Josh Lanier has endorsed Jim Martin (actually he didn’t)

    – Jim Martin filed his FEC disclosure on time (oops, he sent it to the wrong address)

    – Commissioner Irvin has endorsed Jim Martin (actually he never did)

    – Saxby Chambliss “voted against Agriculuture” (no explaination necessary)

    – Jim Martin is holding a press conference(actually he’s going to read a press release and refuse to take any questions)

For once I agree with SpaceyG.

Um, look at the source..It’s Kenny Walker. Former Charles Walker/Mark Taylor staffer. He always thought he was more important than he really was. Guess he’s craving some attention.

Oh well, how this made on PI is beyond me.

Someone with an ego as big as Vernon’s cannot accept the fact he simply lost, there has to be a grassy knoll in there somewhere.

I’m surprised they haven’t tried to connect Martin to Diebold yet.

But I thought that Obama and Snuggles were tight. I mean Obama had his picture on Snuggles’ mail pieces …

Obama and the Dems (sounds like a Southside Chicago pop group) should take credit for Vern’s defeat, even though untrue. It would boost the popularity of both.
