Butterworth Wins

by Erick on August 5, 2008

Congratulations to Jim Butterworth for his victory. There were lots of missteps on the other side. Our sympathies are with the Schafer family given Mr. Schafer’s health situation, but Jim really worked his butt off here. It’s a shame it got as heated as it did.

When an incumbent runs on family values and sends a mailer attacking her opponent for having a job, a family, and a working wife (2nd grade school teacher) the voters get heated and lash out against the incumbent at the ballot box.

When an incumbent goes on the Zoller show and lashes out at callers by saying “you don’t know what you’re talking about,” can’t answer a question without being condescending and hateful, and then claim you are approachable, voters lash out at the ballot box.

When a paid campaign manager admonishes citizens openly in responses to letters to the editor without revealing they are being paid, and then getting your hand caught in the cookie jar, voters get heated and lash out on the ballot.

When you send out robo calls on Sunday, hold fundraisers with a silent auction on Sunday, then lash out at the caller on the Zoller show and plain out lie about it, and the whole while espousing to represent our northeast Georgia values, voters get heated and vote against you.

When an incumbent announces district wide they will not seek re-election, then jumps back in and lashes out at Butterworth with half truths or half lies and then tries to blow smoke by saying “Integrity Matters,” you get exactly what you deserve:

You get the tar beat out of you.

Congratulations to Butterworth! I certainly wish him the best.

Many people will be watching him.

One less crazy in the General Assembly

bowersville, I got the same feeling from the Zoller segment. Schafer did come across as angry and combative. I was surprised that she felt she could win while projecting such an image.

“robo-calls on Sunday?”

What brainiac was the consultant on Shaefer’s race?

Jim-

Now you have your GRTL Endorsement!
Yippie! Good for you!

Now don’t let me down - Fight for the UNBORN
like you said you would! I will be watching your votes like a hawk. As will everyone else.

“Jim-

Now you have your GRTL Endorsement!”

Jim,

Now you know how much the GRTL Endorsement is really worth. Feel free to vote life issues as you see fit, and don’t feel you need to kiss the rings of those who believe they need to tell you what Pro-life really means.

Must be a bad year for incumbents. If GRTL endorsement can’t get you elected in Northeast Georgia, what can?

GOPeach 08.09.08 at 4:31 am

Jim-

I will be glad to help you understand what PRO-LIFE means. It means that you do not call for the tax payers to pay to “get rid of fetuses” by the millions produced by a godless society.

Help to create adoption legislation where good couples can have babies.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Are ‘open adoptions’ still illegal in Georgia? If so, that would be the FIRST place for GRTL to start providing alternatives.

‘Open adoption’, where the child will know who her/his birth parents are, just makes sense as an alternative.

BTW, an ‘open adoption’ can legally happen in GA if set up through an attorney and all parties comply.

Peach,

My dad used to tell me, “When the neighbors dog comes over and takes a dump in the front yard, don’t go out and kick the dump while it’s fresh because it stinks. Wait until the dump is weathered, then clean it up. It won’t stink so bad.”

Everyone familiar with this campaign including you, knows the GRTL took a dump on Jim Butterworth. My advice to you is “let it weather awhile, it won’t stink so bad.”
