Silly season for Georgia politics has officially been declared open by DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones who today accused his run-off opponent, Jim Martin, of not supporting Illinois Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
In an email to supporters, Jones wrote that his campaign had “uncovered evidence” that Jim Martin did not want Barack Obama to be president and even voted against Sen. Obama in the February 5th presidential primary.
The email urges readers to “Please tell everyone you know!”

Obamamania continues. It reminds me of Nazi Germany or the French Revolution.
Seems like a very strange tactic for someone who has admitted (with pride) to voting for George W Bush.
actually, it’s not that strange at all.
4 years ago, bush supporters threatened to shoot any “libruls” who threatened their national “pride” or dared to allow gays to marry.
and i can vouch for feeling like i was living in a nazi-like country during the first 4 years of bush’s tenure. do you not remember?
since snuggles voted for this nazi-like admin., of course he’s going to use the same tactic. it’s just the other side of the same damn coin. wake up!
Let’s face it…VERNON JONES IS A LYING SCUMBAG WHO WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED…now that I’ve got that out, let’s reasonably consider that Vernon is playing to what he considers to be the lowest common- denominator in this run0ff. Doesn’t work, Snuggles. The turnout for the runoff will mostly be in the form of your worst enemy…thinking folks who see you for the lowlife you are. Adios, MF.

People are entitled to their opinions but they are not entitled to the FACTS!
During this U.S. Senate campaign, I have only seen Vernon report the FACTS!
Can anyone refute any of his claims or accusations?
Lets get off the personality & stay on the facts of a canidate’s record & experience.

Vernon ought to be asking Jim Martin why he made up the fact that Tommy Irvin endorsed him. Irvin told a group of folks at an event in Jackson that he had never agreed to support Martin and that Martin’s folks has just assumed his endorsement…just like they assumed that Josh Lanier would endorse.

Jim Tharpe (ajc) reported on july 24, 2008 the following:
JT-Martin’s campaign Wednesday night issued a statement clarifying Martin’s earlier remarks.
“Jim Martin has been a longtime supporter of John Edwards and voted for him in the primary.”
All Vernon has been doing is running on a record & his experience. Period!

Just because he voted for Edwards doesn’t mean that Martin is opposed to Obama being president.
I voted for Vernon Jones, but I didn’t know he was this sleazy. I don’t think I’m going to vote for him in the run off.
