Some moron complained to the City of Atlanta and the DOT that “Men at Work” signs are sexist and must be changed. Naturally the government told the lady they agreed instead of telling her to get back in the kitchen and take her shoes off — the truly appropriate response to this silliness.
The change will cost ~$120 per sign.

Seeing how DOT project progress in Georgia, I would have objected to the “at work” part.

Here’s a clip from the movie “Men at Work”. And I don’t see no dang women on this garbage crew. Case closed.

I guess — sorta — I see what the women are complaining about. But here’s what chaps my backside: Why throw out all the signs? Why not buy one that said “humans at work” or whatever and then promise that all NEW SIGNS will be gender neutral. No, instead, they INSIST on wasting taxpayer money.
This is why EAVDad will soon be an Ex-EAVer.

To EAVDad … I’m with you on the cost. But, fact is, the total cost was $1000 to retro-paint all the signs. As an EAV resident facing a 27.5 percent water increase starting this month, I hate to see the city tossing money down the toilet. But, I think in the scheme of things, the fact that folks are even discussing this is probably worth the tab.

If they really wanted to slow down the drivers they could have just put pictures of Hooters girls on the signs. Then had Hooters pick up the bill. That should make everyone happy.

Interesting. Something I hadn’t contemplated.

EAV … East Atlanta Village. It’s ITP (translation - inside the perimeter).

To be fair 1/2 need to be in Spanish. Obama wants us to be sensative to the hard working border jumping immigrants.
