The person challenging Sheriff Garrison is a business partner of Robert Trim’s! WOW! How could a law-and-order candidate have anything to do with Robert Trim, who has been arrested for dirty campaigning? I also wonder will she uphold the bans restaurants in Cherokee county put in place via Trim’s behavior?

    Garrison vs.Trim-Partner for Sheriff?

AJC-A former corporal in the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is running for the top spot against incumbent Roger Garrison.

The opponent is 36, worked for seven years at the jail and in the public information office before leaving this year. She is currently a public relations consultant and partner with Trim LLC of Woodstock.

Brannon and a co-conspirator(Robert Trim) were arrested in 2002 for violation of Georgia election laws, including campaigning too close to polling place, violating campaign literature and disclosure requirements, and obstruction of law officers, records show.

Brannon and his partner could have faced jail time, but were allowed to produce a pamphlet on election law as part of the terms. The arrests stemmed from dirty campaigning against—Sheila Auffrey, who was then running for a state House seat.

Any elected official, don’t care who you are, who doesn’t know that they would have to register a charity is a complete idiot.

Its not like this guy is some crazy candidate running, he’s the incumbent Sheriff!

    Clayton County Part Deux?!

  3. J Konop says:

Since 2000, Cherokee County has grown considerably. There were approximately 142,000 people there in 2000 and the 2007 data estimates there are now over 204,000.

The current Sheriff took office in 1993, and despite the huge population surge, crime rates have remained very low. In fact, violent crime rates (murder/rape/robbery) are actually lower now on a per capita basis than they were in 1994.

From a purely analytical, crime-busting point of view, his performance appears to be first-rate.

  4. JediJD says:

Roger, in the last five years, took in a QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS, from political contributors and vendors that was never disclosed to anyone. He admittedly used this money as “political capital”. During this period, these same vendors had contracts renewed and were recommended for contracts, without anyone ever knowing the financial relationships. 60% went to overhead. Some of the remainder went to worthy charities…charities that DID file their necessary papers and didn’t have a $250k slush fund to pay lawyers for answers. This makes what Ron Sailor did look like amateur hour.

But wait, there is a further ten year additional history of money transfers that has yet to be reported.

I understand if you despise Robert Trim, but if this is not indictable, it should be.

From a purely analytical, crime-busting point of view, he should be arrested.

    Respectfully,

  5. El_Capatain says:

J Konop, Do you work for the Sheriff or something? It is quite clear that your trying to get people to look the other way concerning the illegal activities of Garrison.

I agree with JediJD that this makes Ron Sailor look amateur.
It will be interesting to see if Garrison is arrested and also if he will be able to afford the back taxes owed to the I.R.S.

  6. Rpolitic says:

John lets see a misdemeanor that they refused to prosecute or mulitple felonies and you see a comparison. You are showing your hypocisy again.

  7. J Konop says:

    El_Capatain

I do not work for Sheriff Garrison, I live in Cherokke County with my wife and two kids.

I just appreciate that Sheriff Garrison has done great job keeping our community safe.

The issue with his opponents association with Robert Trim speaks for itself?

  8. Rpolitic says:

John you can keep trying to make this about me but the fact is Roger admitted and I quote “guilty as charged” to breaking the law. Not a minor law but a slew of laws.
    1) Failure to register a charity in violation of the Georgia Charities act
    2) Failure to file state income tax returns
    3) Failure to files federal income tax
    4) Mail Fraud
    5) State ethics violations
and now we have his puppets launching a smear campaign using the county computers.

This is not minor, we have just seen a former Rep. from Cherokee County get 5 years probation for failing to file one state tax return.

We have Charles Walker from Augusta now a guest of the Federal prison system for his illegal charityactivies and tax charges.

This is not a minor infraction, this is serious.

Your petty personal differences with me certainly can’t wash away all of those offenses.

  9. J Konop says:

The truth is the money Roger raised was all audited and went to the proper charity.

Your girlfriend running against Roger has many questions she should answer for.

    1) Why does she think paying starting police officers $7.60 an hour is a good idea?
    2) Why does she think the current police officers are over paid?
    3) Does she Give Roger Garrison and the police force no credit for keep the crime rate low while the population exploded in Cherokee County?
    4) Does not your candidate have her own issues with missing money in her campaign disclosure?
    5) Should not the restaurant owners in Cherokee County be concerned about your girlfriend becoming sheriff since they banned you from their places via your drunken out of control behavior?

At the end Roger did not steal money it was all for Charity. We all make mistakes, but why should Cherokee County trust an inexperience person with questionable ties when the crime rate is so low?

  10. Rpolitic says:

John nice copy and paste from your site. If you watch the investigative report titled illegal charity on myfoxatlanta.com you will see that there was NO AUDIT. In fact there is no explanation where 60% of the moneys went. There was no disclosure of who the contributed are but we do know they are his vendors.

An important question is how much did the self professed finance law breakers at the facility group give. Oh and did I mention they built the Cherokee County Jail.

John as a finance guy you should know that TV stations do not do audits. There is no accountants report of the finances.

The Sheriff has yet to file the necessary papers with the Secretary of State, check for your self.

You have no idea if Roger stole money, neither do I. In fact no no one suggested he did. He does say “guilty as charged” in reference to not paying taxes, and breaking the Georgia Charities Act.

You can’t wash that away. You can’t argue with his own words as much as you might wish you could.

John stop before the little crediblity you have left is gone.

  11. J Konop says:

    Robert

I will make it simple for you, tell me why you think the statements made are not true.

    1) Did not the crime rate go down under Sheriff Garrison while the population exploded in Cherokee County?

    2) Are you not banned from multiple restaurants in Cherokee County for drunken out of control behavior? NO

    3) Is not a big part of the budget the fact that Sheriff Roger Garrison has more than doubled the starting pay for police officers? Well John we have had to get the attorney general involved to get the books to see how he spends his money and it just got here. I will tell you that one of the spread sheets is titled “grants the county does not know about”

    4) By Rodger paying more has he not demonstrated it was a good investment since our crime rate is down while the population has exploded? In fact Roger Garrison has received rewards for his excellent work in Cherokee County.

Bottom line why should I trust an inexperienced sheriff when the current crime rate is so low?

  12. Rpolitic says:

Wow now you are stuttering in entire posts.

ILLEGAL CHARITY RUN BY ROGER GARRISON
and I quote “GUILTY AS CHARGED” Roger Garrison as seen on WAGA report Illegal Charity.

  13. A Typical White Person says:

    JediJD,

You said: “From a purely analytical, crime-busting point of view, he should be arrested.”

    By whom?

  14. J Konop says:

Robert Trim you were guilty as charged!

  16. Rpolitic says:

John are an idiot. Erick or someone please explain the law to John.

Bud Leonard is a journalist. Not a judge not a jury not an accountant

oh and again why not address the issue.

  17. El_Capatain says:

J Konop & Rpolitic, Stop airing any dirty laundry, your hurting both your candidates,

J Konop, Everything your saying seems to be “hear say” and extremely vague. From what you have posted, all of the charges seem to be similar to what EVERY candidate does, which is have signs near the voting & have signs or literature that does not have that box at the bottom saying who paid for the sign. That seems to be common recently, which may explain why the guy was not charged.
    also
Why should I trust an experienced, yet corrupt, sheriff even if the current crime rate is so low? I.M.H.O. The crime rate is a direct result of the carrying rights supported by Cherokee residents not the sheriff.

Rpolitic, The guy is bringing up rather good questions but with no sources, and in the wrong forum. Has there been a public debate ?

  18. Jason Markus says:

John Konop- You continually state the fact the crime rate went down under Sheriff Garrison while the population exploded in Cherokee County.

You’re continually stating two facts that have no direct correlation.

The basis of your entire argument is that if a population increases, it should have a higher crime rate. So, if a population decreases, should the crime rate also fall?

So, when major metropolitan cities experience white flight, and a decreased population, their crime rates went down, right? Because they had a smaller population. And, the new suburban areas had an increase in population, so their crime rates went up, right?

NO. You’re not providing any proof that Roger Garrison’s actions led to a decrease in crime.

You’re simply seeing two factors (increasing population and decreasing crime rate), and assigning the reasoning to Garrison.

I could just as easily claim that the crime rates fell, because Garrison chose to arrest less criminals that the previous Sheriff.

Its a baseless claim, but no more than yours. I doubt you’d care about this race if Trim wasn’t involved, thus questioning the bias of you claims even more.

  19. J Konop says:

    El_Capatain

The antics of Robert Trim are well known in Cherokee County. The reason his girlfriend will not win goes beyond her inexperience. Must people who know of Robert would tell you he would say or do anything to get his candidate elected. He is the poster child of the political hit man approach which has hurt our community.

I have friends on both sides of the Republican Party in Cherokee. And in most issues they do agree. Yet Robert makes a living keeping the sides fighting and does not care whom he takes money from.

Robert at one point representing a gay former Democrat turned Republican who gave money to Perdue and Taylor and in the same election cycle while he was bashing a black Republican woman for doing contract work years ago for a Democrat.

In the election cycle he got arrested he bashed a woman as an unfit mother via standing by her daughter who had a baby out of wed luck.

Putting all issues aside any law enforcement person who would be a business partner and girlfriend of Robert Trim demonstrates a lack of judgment.

  21. Rick Day says:

Now guys..go back and listen to what he said. He said the only thing he pleaded guilty to was “Trying to do a good thing”, which, of course is now an affirmable defense for, say, robbing a bank to feed your dog in Ball Ground.

    What.

    Bubba.

Two words re county sheriffs: TERM LIMITS

    is he…a Republican?

  22. Rick Day says:

PPS: Isn’t this the same group of yay-hoos who stumbled across a long abandoned pot patch with about 900 6 inch tall wild seedlings scattered about a forest floor, and proclaimed it a MULTI MILLION DOLLAR MARIJUANA FARM BUST!!

    Lordy Lord.

  23. J Konop says:

    Rick

How is the crime rate in your county compared to Cherokee? Unlike you I vote on results not on stereotypes.

  24. Bill Simon says:

Jason Markus says: “I could just as easily claim that the crime rates fell, because Garrison chose to arrest less criminals that the previous Sheriff.”

Actually, you couldn’t. Why? Because crime occurs whether or not someone gets “arrested.” So, if the Sheriff arrested fewer people, that would not have any effect on the number of crimes occuring….and, in fact, when criminals found out about a place in which the police were less involved in arresting people, the number of crimes would actually tend to increase.
