That’s going to be one heck of a wedding.

Lawrenceville Mayor wins $250K.

According to a Wednesday news release from the Georgia Lottery, Lawrenceville Mayor Rex Millsaps won $250,000 in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. He matched five of six winning numbers for the second largest prize behind the jackpot.

“I think it’s wonderful,” he said. “I’ve got a wedding to plan.”

Winning numbers for the drawing were: 39-40-47-53-55 and the Mega Ball was 32. Millsaps purchased his Quik Pik ticket at Safa Express, 725 Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville.

The mayor and his wife, Sheila, have four adult children and six grandchildren. He will use a portion of his winnings to help plan a wedding for his youngest daughter, Karla, a recent graduate of Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

“Her sister’s was elaborate, so I’d expect she would want the same,” he said.

That’s kind of cool. Funny in a way because he’s an elected official.

Is this the first time an elected official has won the lottery in GA?
