Macon Councilwoman Won’t Do Her Job Because…Of Her Job

May 14th, 2008 by Rogue109 · 5 Comments

From today’s Macon Telegraph:

Macon Councilwoman Elaine Lucas said she expects to resign her seat on the council’s Appropriations Committee because scheduling problems will prevent her from attending budget hearings.

If she can’t attend to the requirements of her elected position, then she shouldn’t hold office.

i know nothing of ms. lucas or her job, but being a council member is suppose to be a part time commitment, i would hope that either the city or her “real bosses” could help her work something out. if you don’t have real people w/ other real jobs serving then you end up w/ dilletentes and elitists running the show…

    Rome:

    What makes you so sure?

Did you see her get sworn in?

Otherwise, I would just assume she hasn’t been sworn in.

I wonder what reasons led to Councilman Cranford’s decision not to reschedule the meeting. 1pm seems unusually early for a meeting like that.
