I heard Nancy Schaeffer is officially running.

Don’t be suprised if Denise Majette decides to run for the US Senate.
Ah oh, she already did. Chip are you that dumb?
Icarus // May 8, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Schaeffer has released her first campaign video.

I know Eric Johnson is actively considering the Lt. Governor position.
Insider Mike // May 8, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Rogers v Johnson would be good fun to watch.
Brian from Ellijay // May 8, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Yeah, Chip has already made it known that he is seeking LG if and when Casey moves on.
Chip also made a promise to his Amy (wife) when he ran that he would not seek another office until 2010.
Can you say LT. Governor Rogers.
Had Enough // May 8, 2008 at 10:03 pm
yeah, uhhh, his colleagues were so inspired by his leadership that they dumped him as leader as soon as cagle won. oh, and nevermind that he’s been complicit with all this ridiculous posturing by Sonny, Cagle and Glenn.
We need a real conservative, not just some limelight seeking bomb thrower.
sign me up for Rogers for LG.
bowersville // May 8, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Sign me up for Rogers for LG. Right, Rogers is dependent on Cagle vacating the LG’s office.
What the heck does that mean?

How about Mike Beatty.

If Casey does not run and Karen does I wonder If Chip runs for Sec of State?
In Cherokee the Lt. Governor run for Chip if Casey runs for Governor has been no secrete.
debbie0040 // May 9, 2008 at 6:07 am
Chip would make a wonderful Governor/Lt. Governor.
Since Oxendine is running for Governor, I nominate Chris Farris for Insurance Commissioner.
:)

I could vote for Chip Rogers for Lt. Governor. Although I am a Democrat, Chip seems to be fair and just for our issues
Casey Cagle, Glen Richardson… net to go!
Chris Farris // May 9, 2008 at 7:20 am
how much does the job pay?
I think shafer would be a better insurance comm. I’ll settle for the senator from the 48th
moocher // May 9, 2008 at 7:23 am
I heard Evans is thinking about LT. Gov or SOS, by then the dust will have settled.
debbie0040 // May 9, 2008 at 7:29 am
“Chris Farris // May 9, 2008 at 7:20 am
how much does the job pay?”
Who cares, you get free passes to NASCAR races
Shafer is good but I think he would be a better Congressman when Linder retires..
Skeptic Tank // May 9, 2008 at 7:49 am
Erick, didn’t you also say “don’t be surprised” if Barry Fleming doesn’t qualify for the 10th Congressional District race?
Holly // May 9, 2008 at 8:16 am
What happened to Steve Stancil? Anyone know?
SamTeasley // May 9, 2008 at 8:25 am
I don’t know what Rogers will do, but I can say that he is a down-the-line, rock-solid conservative and a good man to boot. We need more people like him serving in government.
debbie0040 // May 9, 2008 at 8:41 am
I agree 110%, Sam…
Chip gave a great speech at the American’s for Prosperity event. It reminded me of a young Reagan….
Bill Simon // May 9, 2008 at 9:20 am
” and a good man to boot.”
This inside-baseball chatter is SO confusing. First you say he’s a rock-solid conservative, and then you indicate he’d be a good man to boot. Boot where? “Out” is the only place that makes any sense after use of the phrase “to boot”….

How many GOP State Senators are there; about 34? If so then I would say there are 30 Senators that are giving serious consideration to the LG’s race…and the other 4 are considering Governor.
Icarus // May 9, 2008 at 11:38 am
“If so then I would say there are 30 Senators that are giving serious consideration to the LG’s race…and the other 4 are considering Governor.”
Not exactly. Some of them are considering running for the soon to be vacated congressional seats if Westmoreland, Kingston, Gingrey, et al decide to run for Gov.
CobbGOPer // May 9, 2008 at 1:22 pm
You can bet your ass Ronnie Chance will take a hard look at Westmoreland’s seat if Lynn runs for Guv… And he’d be tough to beat.
jw315 // May 9, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Does anyone think that Eric Johnson has a legitimate chance for Lt Governor?

Chance would make a great Congressman. From what I’ve observed, he’s keeping his cards close to the vest, unlike his peer(s). I know Seabaugh has been openly discussing it for a while. I’m told a few House members are, as well. There won’t be a narrow field to choose from if Westmoreland decides to go for Gov.
Brian from Ellijay // May 9, 2008 at 2:14 pm
I don’t think Westmoreland is running. Gingrey yes, Kingston a possibility, but Lynn has been telling friends and colleagues that he will not run.
Bill Simon // May 9, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Eric Johnson might think he does. Go, Eric, Go!

I love a good primary! It’s healthy for our party and our party could use a real battle for its soul.
bowersville // May 9, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Whay, ahay, whoa wasn’t it Chip Rogers that first decided he’ed only run if suppored.
Well H#ll let’s give Chip his suppose. You people are going to have to WAKE UP! or not, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m too old to give a crap.
DoubleDawg3 // May 9, 2008 at 10:22 pm
I’ll continue to echo all the great sentiment for Chip Rogers that’s been posted…he’s a great man and truly a conservative leader.
I’m not positive that he still does this, but Chip used to donate all his legislative salary to local charities in Cobb / Cherokee County. It’s nice to see a politician actually giving back to the community & state , rather than using his position to try to take more from it.
This is a longggggg way off, but if Chip Rogers became LG, he of course might be in line to be Gov. one day - if he was ever elected Gov., he’d likely be an outstanding national candidate (VP?) (young, articulate, fiscally conservative, Christian Southern Governor)
But I won’t get too far ahead of myself - Chip Rogers for LG, I’m definitely on board.
DoubleDawg3 // May 9, 2008 at 10:25 pm
As for the Ronnie Chance comments - agreed, he would make a great Congressman for that district if Lynn did run for Gov.
This sounds strange but - I like Chance’s chances against Seabaugh (especially if Chance still has some DC and lobbyist contacts that will help pour money in).
Bull Moose // May 9, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Erick - please put up a poll for Lt. Governor!
Bill Simon // May 10, 2008 at 12:24 am
And, one for dog catcher too!
And, one for the Commissioner of Cracked Windshields!
And…put one up for Obstetrician of The Year Award!
And…put up a poll to let us vote on who is the best Rules Committee Chairman, Earl Ehrhart or Don Balfour!
(Sorry, Bull..it’s late…and my humor gets punchier as the time wears on…)

Bill you have no sense of humor.

Can I be in the dog catcher poll?

We show that you are polling well. Your ides of using your dog catcher office to go after politicians is great! We have no shortages of dogs.
