City Of Atlanta - Quality of Life Starting To Run Downhill

May 1st, 2008 by SpaceyG · 5 Comments

Who at the federal level are we not sleeping with to get the funding that seems to grow on trees for other cities? From the AJC:

(Mayor Shirley) Franklin’s already bumped up sewer rates 70 percent in five years. So if all the rate hikes are adopted by the Atlanta City Council in June, the average household’s water bill will have jumped from $50 to $135 over 10 years — a 170 percent increase. At the same time, the Department of Watershed Management will propose cutting about 140 positions to save money.

“It does not surprise me that this is an expensive project,” Franklin said. “It appears until the federal government decides that water quality is important at the federal level, the average folks are going to have to continue to pay.”

Excellent idea Spacey! But what about Clark Howard?

Clark has not gotten clearance from his wife to run. Besides that he would have to give up all of his consumer enterprises including his radio dn TV shows.

Folks like Clark are more effective on the outside rather than the inside.

Clark is just as geeked-out as Shirley is. We need to put the sexy back in Mayoral in this town. The feds are off makin’ it with someone else obviously. Someone younger.

Gena Abraham may yet do so, but as of yet she hasn’t fixed anything at GDOT—slowing and stopping work isn’t a fix.

That is true Dave, GDOT is already pretty well-practiced at slowing and stopping work. I do believe Gena is making progress on changing that though.
