Qualifying: Day 3

This was sent my way today.

Norcross City Councilman Keith Shewbert qualifies for 96th district seat.

I am proud to announce my candidacy for the 96th district seat in the Georgia House of Representatives. While serving as Norcross city councilman and board member of the Gwinnett Village CID I have seen progress toward the goal of revitalizing Southwest Gwinnett, but there is serious work ahead of us. My campaign will be about “Thoughtful Progress Together”. Together we will move forward to revitalize, redevelop, and secure our neighborhoods. Together we will create a receptive climate for small business creation, and attract new companies that bring quality jobs. Together we will give our schools the support they need to succeed. Working with our partners in the city of Norcross, Gwinnett County, Gwinnett Village and Gwinnett Place CID’s, Chamber of Commerce, and community groups we will develop solutions that improve security, quality of life, and property values in the 96th district. I look forward to engaging the community in a positive dialogue on how to achieve our common goals. More information about my campaign is available at www.Norcross2020.com. Together we can accomplish great things.

Jason Pye has a running tally of who has qualified up on his blog.

  1. SamTeasley says:

I see that Thunder Tumlin is being opposed by Pat Dooley – would someone please remind me who that is? The name is very familiar, but I can’t place it.

  2. I wish Mr. Shewbert well. Pedro Marin is a nice guy but not a very effective Legislator. However, the district is a Democratic district and Shewbert has an uphill battle.

  3. Brian from Ellijay says:

She ran against him in 2004 also SKT, losing then 56-44% I think. But you are right, the name is familiar for some other reason also.

  4. Tea Party says:

Go see Keith at the coffee shop in Historic Norcross. Keith is a straight shooter that has made a positive difference in the Norcross area.

  5. Romegaguy says:

Actually Thunder ran against Ms. Dooley and beat her in 2004 as she was the incumbent.

  6. Norcross2020 says:

Just a note for PP readers. This is a very winnable district. It is about 52-47 against, but people are very concerned about security and quality of life. I have been working on these as well as education issues in the district for some time. People down here are looking for signs of hope that SW Gwinnett will be aggressively redeveloped. We are gonna GetRdone.

    Keith Shewbert
