Angela Speir, the self-described “people’s commissioner” on the Georgia Public Service Commission, will not run for re-election this fall, Speir said Thursday.“I feel called to serve in a different way,” Speir said. “I want to help people and I want to work in an organization where the goals are compatible with that.”
I call her the barometer because if you ever wanted to gauge the strength of the GOP vote in a precinct all you’ve had to do these past four years is see what Angela Speir’s share of the vote was. She ran a campaign with virtually zero funding and zero statewide regular appearances, yet she was able to win.

Angela Speir was not only able to win, but completely changed the tone at the PSC. She will be missed.

Does the mean the Libertarians finally have a shot?

Libertarians often have shots.
Jack, Tequila, whatever,
Then they chase it with beer, smoke some weed, pop a few pills, and then post here about how much they miss C.J.’s landing in Buckhead…

They do if the GOP nominates Larry Craig and the Dems nominate Charles Walker or Ron Sailor.

I don’t think the GOP will be nominating Larry Craig - due to the district residency requirement of course.

I just heard a very interesting rumor about who from Gwinnett/Hall may run.

Icarus,
Some conservatives miss CJ’s Landing as well.

True, DK, some of us do.
Though those weren’t my most conservative evenings, usually…

Icarus,
I don’t recall the word “conservative” requiring one to never partake in alcohol consumption and “hang out” in a room with wild women in it.
