To heck with Columbus

They’re a bunch of Republicans anyway.

A last-minute change by the state Democratic committee has moved Saturday’s 2nd Congressional District caucus from Columbus to Americus — a change that’s drawn the concern of one local delegate candidate.

The caucus, in which Democrats will choose who goes to the national convention as delegates for Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, was slated for Rigdon Road Elementary School in Columbus. However, the state committee moved it to the Windsor Hotel, 125 W. Lamar St., Americus, after a petition claimed Columbus wasn’t a central location, said Alice Pate, chairwoman of the Muscogee County Democratic Committee.

As a state Democratic committee member, I’ve puzzled and confused about the “the state committee moving” the caucuses to Americus, Georgia.

I don’t remember voting on that. I don’t even remember there being an announced meeting.

I guess what I’m saying is that you can’t put this decision on the state Democratic committee because I don’t think the body made that decision.

They are really organized this year. Watch out, they will take back the General Assembly…

  3. Icarus says:

“I want to know where they found a central location for the 13th CD.”

It’s easy to fine one, but it’s in the 5th CD.
