    I’m not sure that I have an opinion about this specific measure one way or the other (prisons probably do need SOME way to monitor calls). However, some alternative should exist to the current system… where prison payphones are setup to charge outrageous per-minute rates (even on collect calls), as a money-making shakedown for the government. I know that these people are in prison and all, but their loved ones aren’t… so they don’t deserve to be punished also.

    Fulton County judges let inmates have computers, why not cell phones too? But yeah, I too thought that cell phones were already contraband. Another solution in search of a problem? Or just another unneeded law that can get other things attached to its enacting bill?
