The Gwinnett County School System recently began allowing Charter schools to form. One of the first such schools to apply was the Ivy Preparatory Academy, an all girls school. The County denied approval, but the State of Georgia approved and Ivy Prep is set to open this fall in Norcross. Yesterday they held a lottery because they had more applicants than spots available.
I like the idea of Charter schools and vouchers. I’m also open to pretty much any other idea which forces our educational system to improve. An all girls school is fine by me, as would an all boys school. I’ll be interested to see how the Ivy Preparatory Academy performs.
