Glenn gets his revenge

Has anyone noticed that the Speaker appointed Stacy Reese to the State Roads and Tolls Authority? The authority gets some good power through Gena and Sonny, not to mention Sonny is the Chairman.

Good times.

Come now Bobby, if you would only buy Stacey the monogramed hand-towel set you might have a shot at some GOP media buying.

  2. WhiteFemaleVoters says:

Rumor has it that Tax Jesus is recruiting candidates to run against the House Members who voted against his wishes in the 9th DOT race.

  3. Gag Halfrunt says:

I checked BB&B’s registry. Bobby’s right. Stacy’s registered in the “Beyond” section.

  4. Bill Arp says:

I am sure that Booby Kahn is registered at Loser’s R us. You have ruined the Democratic party now you can ruin this blog…go away booby..

  5. AubieTurtle says:

Ah… Stacy was appointed to the Board, not as the head of the agency. I was a bit confused…

I’m not sure how this will work out as revenge though. SRTA doesn’t do much other than put together the road funding bonds and operate the toll portion of GA400. As long as the bonds are floated in a public market, not much that can be done there. As for the tollway, well, there is lots of unclaimed money in the Cruise Card account but after the Atlantic Station land purchase, the rules around the use of those funds were tightened up.

Perhaps SRTA is to have its authority expanded over other areas soon? If so, one member on the board isn’t going to control the show. Then again, maybe there are already other loyalist sitting there.

As an aside, does anyone know the current value of the land SRTA purchased in Atlantic Station? While buying it for future transit use was outside of their mission, from what I hear, they’re going to end up making a pretty big profit on it should the state decide to sell it instead of using it for a rail station for the northeast corridor.

Wherever there’s a state agency, there’s a lobbyist waiting to influence it. I’ll bet the lobbyists threw Reece a “Welcome Back Party!”

  7. Inside_Man says:

SRTA will have oversight of the new State Roadway and Infrastructure Bank, created this year. Eventually the hope is to finance most local road construction through this entity.

  8. AubieTurtle says:

Ah, the bank finally came through. I don’t know all the details of how it will operate but it does sound like a big ol’ pot of honey.
