Dick Pettys has a must read (aren’t all of his articles “must reads”?!) on the compromise being struck for transportation funding.

Approved by the panel was a proposed constitutional amendment that, if approved by voters in November, would allow the state’s community development districts to propose specific transportation improvements projects and then ask voters in the region to approve a special, time-limited transportation sales tax of up to 1 percent.

  1. Dave Bearse says:

The various proposals reducing taxes on highway users while increasing taxes on everyone to build transportation are deplorable. The latest modification to the regional sales tax proposal by the House Transportation Chairman would have THE REGIONAL TAX FOR TRANSPORTATION APPLY TO EVERYTHING SUBJECT TO SALES TAXES EXCEPT MOTOR FUEL.

Clear evidence Richardson’s choice for DOT Commissioner was inferior to Abrahams.
