Ridiculous. Kingston says he questions Obama’s patriotism because it aggravates the Left.
First, that implies that a candidate’s patriotism is not important. I.e., I was just saying it to aggravate the Left–the substance doesn’t really matter.
Second, every politician knows, especially a congressman, if someone questions a candidate’s patriotism, integrity, etc., a candidate needs to respond. If a smear is repeated enough times, everyone starts to believe it. I.e., Al Gore never said he invented the Internet. So Rep. Kingston, your words do matter–it isn’t like running your fingernails across a chalkboard. Your assertions to the contrary are misleading at best or a flat-out lie.
Third, Kingston says Obama will not say the pledge of allegiance. That is patently false. He got caught in one picture with his hand down. There are plenty of other pictures with him saying the pledge with his hand over his heart.
Finally, who cares if he wears a flag lapel pin? No one questions that I don’t love them Dawgs because I don’t wear a UGA lapel pin!!
Rep. Kingston and his ilk are a detriment to a fair and honest debate on the important issues affecting our great Nation. Thus, they make
America weaker.
“Third, Kingston says Obama will not say the pledge of allegiance. That is patently false. He got caught in one picture with his hand down. There are plenty of other pictures with him saying the pledge with his hand over his heart.”
Actually it was the the National Anthem, for which, a civilian is not required to place his or hand over their heart. Anyone who’s been to a ballgame know’s that…hats off please, however.
That should have been a photo of “American Patriot” (TM) Abbie Hoffman in his famous American flag shirt.
(I guess you can’t put html in comments. Please forgive me, I’m new.)
Kingston probably forgot to have some pork $ put into the fed budget to have all of his congressional staff (and himself) supplied with flag lapel pins…
Who cares whether somebody puts their hand over their heart during the pledge or national anthem? Of all the problems in the world, I’m not sure that even makes the list.
Politics seems to be much more about nonsense than things that truly matter. I would gladly vote for somebody who doesn’t even know the words to the national anthem, or the pledge, if they were going to govern the way I prefer. They could even burn flags on the White House lawn for all I care. I am aware enough to understand that “patriotism” disputes tend to be nothing more than red herring issues designed to distract people from the real substance.

I do think it’s funny that Kingston didn’t have HIS required “flag pin” on… on Real Time or MSNBC.

I watched him on Bill Mahr (sp), and he was twisted into a little rag doll.
Very bad for Republicans and Georgians alike.

Obama is too smart to worry about someone as insignificant as Jack Kingston.
