At the polls

I voted for Fred. Commenting to a poll worker, I said, “That was quick and relatively painful.”

She looked at me and said, “Baby, everybody done left here today looking like they’d just gotten a root canal.”

if i read the info from ths SOS office correctly they are not even counting the votes of the dropped out candidates–meaning you may as well have not voted at all…

  2. DoubleDawg3 says:

Peach – you haven’t posted that Huckabee has won the West Virginia Caucus – and you call yourself a fan! haha

Congrats to Mike – I hope it is a big night for him. If he can get 200+ delegates tonight, that would be success in my opinion. Especially if McCain can hold off Romney in most other states where it is close.

I’m hoping that the rainy weather in Missouri will help Mike, but it looks like the biggest storms are in the Ozark region – where I would think he’s got the most support, so that might not be too helpful.

    DoubleDawg3 –

YES!!!!! I KNOW!!!! AWESOME!!!! ( Thank You Jesus!)

THE GOP BASE is STRONG and full of FAITH!!!

  4. Hank Reardan says:

I love being a Libertarian. I love it when I vote , I always feel good and I sleep well at night unlike most of you guys I never have to vote for the lesser of the two evils. My guy may not win but I get to keep my soul 🙂

  5. jsm says:

I voted for Fred, too. There’s something to be said for voting one’s conscience rather than following what the TV says like a lemming.

No vote is a wasted vote.

  6. Jace Walden says:

Well…the votes that won’t even be counted are wasted votes. That said, a vote for Fred may make you feel better, but it didn’t count. It won’t show up anywhere. It won’t have any affect on the outcome.

Even a vote for Ron Paul shows up in the overall outcome.

  7. Ronin says:

    GOPeach …

Here’s the always conservative Jim Wooten’s opinion of your guy’s chances:

“Huckabee is the spoiler. He has no chance of getting the nomination, but he’s certainly useful to McCain — as today’s alliance indicates.”

Huckabee is a heckuva’ nice guy. And I think he is
the only true social conservative of the three. His
fiscal conservatism is in question however. But frankly, both McCain and Romney have the same problem.

    I guess its a good thing I’m a Democrat. 🙂

  8. IndyInjun says:

Define “Hard” GOP voter, but only if it not pornographic.

Somehow they have me mistaken as a “Hard” GOP contributor and I want off the list.

  9. Icarus says:

but only if it is not pornographic…

Well then, that takes a lot of the fun out of it, doesn’t it now?

  10. Bill Simon says:

    It’s not a euphemeism, it’s shorthand, Rugby.

When a candidate’s mail consultant is trying to figure out the absolute least amount of people they have to target direct mail to for a primary election, whether it is a Dem race or a GOP race, if the voter shows that they have SHOWN-UP to vote in 3 consecutive primaries, they are usually considered a “hard voter” in that primary, and will more likely show-up in the primary they are running in.

There is another term called “soft GOP voter” which may have them showing-up to vote in a primary only once or twice in a time period in which there were at least 3 primaries that occured.

Only in the primary in Georgia does a voter have to specify the election they want to vote in by political party.

Do you kinda understand now, Rugby?

  11. Icarus says:

    Good lord Bill,

Indy and I are probably the only two old enough to get that reference. Might as well go ahead and throw a “sock it to me” or two while you’re at it. JoAnne Woolery on the $10,000 pyramid perhaps….

  12. Bill Simon says:

Rugby’s not old enough? He didn’t invest money into buying all of the old Dean Martin Roasts like I did (and, still haven’t actually watched all of them)?

  13. AlanR says:

Erick’s poll worker had more insightful commentary than anything I saw on tv last night.

The Laugh In crowd would be great, but I think this election was tailored for SCTV.
