The Law Man is coming

Or at least the State Ethics Commission.

Former state Rep. Douglas Dean of Atlanta has agreed to pay a $4,500 fine and $600 in late fees in what is the first of what might be dozens of cases against serial violators of campaign law.

Among the latest current or former state lawmakers being investigated is U.S. Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), who served two decades in the General Assembly from Atlanta before being elected to Congress in 2002.

The State Ethics Commission is going after lawmakers, candidates and local officials who have habitually failed to file reports on time —- if at all —- that disclose who gave them campaign donations and what they did with the money.
