Georgians will finally get a chance to tell a key legislative panel what they think of House Speaker Glenn Richardson’s plan to eliminate school property taxes and expand the sales tax.
The proposal now includes new car registration fees. It also would severely limit how much a homeowner’s property assessment could be increased each year, a further move to hold down property taxes.
Richardson’s plan will be the subject of two public hearings next week, one Tuesday and one Wednesday.
