I’m a Broun fan…

There is a great profile of Paul Broun in this month’s issue of Reason magazine.

The article closes with this:

Barry Fleming may start this campaign as the favorite, but there is substantial, enduring support for a congressman who shares the voters’ contempt for Congress. Party leaders won’t be able to wish that sentiment away.

Former Congressman Bob Barr also has good things to say about Broun:

In early 2007, we lost a good friend and a most able legislator

    Jason –

I am really glad you see what I saw last summer about Dr. Broun!

You see … years ago, there was a group Dr. Paul Broun started with a large group of people like me and Sen. Pam Glanton…. It was called The Republican Assembly. We were THE CONSERVATIVES …. Today – The Ga Republican Assembly would be a place for Libertarians & Constitutional people to belong.

We were the ” Burke Bunch”.. Conservatives.

This is who Dr. Broun is! I am really glad you are thankful for him… me too!!!!

His election has given me hope.

As a long-time supporter of Jim Whitehead, I think you might be surprised at how pleased many are with Paul Broun so far. I am very impressed with what I have seen.

If JW could not defeat Broun, I really do not see Fleming as having much of a chance.

Have there been any polls yet for us to really know if Broun’s vulnerable or not? I think IndyInjun’s overlooking the peculiar nature of last year’s special election (two Republicans in the runoffs, Democrats broke for Broun). Just the same, the resentment toward Broun seems to have died down lately (online at least), and he’s been a solid Congressman. I’m not so sure that Fleming is really the favorite.

Broun is the incumbent, but one so fresh that voters will feel that he has not had a chance with a partial term.

Fleming is not nearly so strong as Whitehead, except in partisan GOP circles. Conservative Indies rule the 10th.

    Watch and see.
