Falcons surprise everyone by making playoffs as a wildcard with a record of 9-7.

I totally read that as "Felons" the first time.

You're in the writer's guild, TPSoCal? I didn't know that.

I'm surprised that the strike is still ongoing. Nine times out of ten, I assume that business will prevail against unions in a labor dispute in this day and age. However, Hollywood is a different beast altogether. How does industry expect to "win" against a union where half the members are unemployed anyway, and where half the others are still being financially supported by sympathetic actors/producers/TV show hosts? Just admit that your industry is communist, give the writers what they want, and let me get back to watching Jim play pranks on Dwight.

The Florida vs Georgia game winner wins the national championship.

McCain / Pawlenty win by carrying NH, MN, WS, FL and OH. Only Iowa goes from Red to Blue.

GOP loses a net of 2 US Senate seats and gains 7 House seats. At least 2 dems change parties after the election. Nancy gets replaced as SOH. Ried's popularity continues to plummet back home in NV.

Sonny becomes unpopular in GA. GA GOP has crisis over the inability to pass any meaningful tax reform. Gridlock in a one party state.

Falcons surprise everyone by making playoffs as a wildcard with a record of 9-7.

The writers strike will end late in the year, thus allowing me to return to work...finally! Or I will be forced to find a job in another industry.

GOPeach is enjoying Bourbon Street's namesake.

Paul Broun and Erick remain officials in waiting.

Peach Pundit is still unable to top the number of comments in the Cindye Coates thread from last year, despite my best efforts.

UGA does not win the SEC East.

Wallabies win the Tri-Nations (yea, right).

The Baggy Greens lose a series (yea, right).

Icarus lives up to his New Year's Resolution (yea, right).

I say something insightful (yea, right).

1) Hillary wins the Democratic nomination, and selects Bill Richardson for her running mate.

2) Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination, and immediately adopts Hillary's platform as his own for the general election.

3) Ron Paul breaks low double-digits in the early states, and hangs in the race until the convention. It doesn't revolutionize the world, but you do start seeing GOP leaders quietly shifting to a greater emphasis on constitutionalism. It once again becomes somewhat respectable in GOP grassroots circles to oppose interventionalism and nation-building (i.e. the 2000 GOP platform).

4) There's a terrorist attack shortly before the election, just like in Spain a few years back. Effect on the election is uncertain, but it is certain that Republicans will privately rejoice.

5) The Georgia legislature passes some kind of change to tax policy, far less ambitious than what's been talked about.

6) The Georgia legislature does absolutely nothing with regard to spending policy.

7) Georgians bitterly oppose changes to building codes requiring low-flow toilets and faucets, until the worsening drought causes draconian shutdowns in government services and private business. At that point, Georgians begrudgingly accept conservation measures... while franticly striving to avoid compliance for themselves.

8) Glenn Richards settles into a Tom Murphy speaker-for-life role, and makes no moves to seek higher office. Casey Cagle and David Shafer continue to be the two smartest people in the Georgia GOP, and are groomed for bigger things.

9) Incumbents survive their primary challenges (i.e. John Linder, and even Paul Broun). No surprises in the general election (i.e. Saxby cruises).

10) Falcons struggle. In college football, a UGA professor wins the Nobel Prize, for inadvertently discovering a new branch of quantum physics while trying to rationalize the BCS rankings system.

1. Obama and Nunn narrowly defeat McCain and Huckabee.
2. Georgia House overides some of Purdue vetoes, but not Senate. Great Plan fails in Senate.
3. No new funds for transportation until DOT house is in order.
4. Governors fail to work out tri-state water compromise.
5. Drought worsens in spring creating dangerous conditions particularly in Athens and UGA. This awakens suburban voters of the need for effective state government to address water and transportation.

Falcons win the NFC south on an 8-8 record. A new coach and quarterback bring a manic energy to the team, winning 5 games won on their final possession.

Democratic and Republican presidential tickets of John McCain and running mate Fred Thompson, and Hillary Clinton and running mate Barack Obama -- Draw huge crowds of 25,000 to October rallies at Centennial Olympic Park.

From the crystal ball of Icarus:

Speaker Richardson and Gov. Perdue continue to make Casey Cagle look like the most intelligent man in Georgia Politics.

Johnny Isakson remains the actual most intelligent man in Georgia Politics, with Senator David Shafer continuing to groom himself to take that title one day.

Senator Mitch Seabaugh announces a 3 picture deal. Each of them

I think Johnny Isakson runs for Governor and wins by a landslide.

I think it's a blood bath to take his place in the Senate between a few of our Washington Representatives and maybe a very popular State Senator. Jim Marshall may run for that open seat as opposed to against Chambliss.

Politics across the country become a lot less partisan and more bi-partisan as a result of McCain's landslide victory and 2010 looks to be a redefining election in America.

While Lewis Massey would probably be a great unifying governor if he could get elected as a Democrat, I think Erick was just Macon it up. Together with Mike Bowers's son Bruce, Lewis Massey has created one of the premier consulting firms in the state and my guess is they are probably turning away clients. As for Mike Bowers, he too has an enormously successful law practice and I don't think he has anything but respect for Johnny. I can't imagine him getting involved to oppose him. I really think Erick is playing a little political fantasy football here.

Together with Mike Bowers’s son Bruce, Lewis Massey has created one of the premier consulting firms in the state and my guess is they are probably turning away clients. As for Mike Bowers, he too has an enormously successful law practice and I don’t think he has anything but respect for Johnny. I can’t imagine him getting involved to oppose him. I really think Erick is playing a little political fantasy football here.
