I just got this via e-mail from Senate Pro-Tem Eric Johnson:

Dear Friends;

You know where Rudy stands on the issues even if you disagree. You can

Eric-

It seems like Huckabee is a “Pro-Life Democrat”.
It seems like Rudy is a “Tax-Cut Democrat”.
It seems like Ron Paul is a “Anti -War Libertarian”.

Fred Thompson – would fit the description of a solid republican as he was endorsed by the NRTL ( who condemn babies conceived by rape). The moderates will like that because that allows the money to still be spent to fund the millions and millions of abortions that are NOT a result of rape.

I know it seems like I drill that idea. But it is the way it goes and you as a Senator know that is how it plays out … even here in GA. I pray to God you will find it in your heart to vote YES on

Decisions, decisions – the Arkansas Huckleberry? or the Tennessee Hillbilly? the Massachusetts Mor(m)on? Or Rudi – Queen of 9/11…

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 2:13 pm

I just wish the Hillbilly did not look like a catfish and his little wife did not look like a drunk hooker.

Look… I am known to be “hot” for my age… at least that is what they say… Older people say I look like Sandra Dee. As a mother of 5, I am stacked like this lady… but Honey, I don’t let anyone but judge seek Peach’s peaches!!! :)

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 2:26 pm

I strongly suggest Jeri hide her jugs a little more – She’s pretty enough without hanging out at photo ops!…. Think more ” Jackie Kennedy”… Smart and tailored dresses.

Just a few suggestions for any of the Thompson image consultants. Peach will say what most ONLY THINK!

Eric,

The problem is, Fred’s campaign team has not been willing to consistently articulate these points as a full message. So you and the volunteers are left to do it.

That’s a big problem.

The points you outline are all concerns that led me to support Fred early and to be vocal about it.

Why won’t this campaign or the candidate JUST SAY IT??? He’s unwilling to truly differentiate himself from the other Republicans. And he’s the only one with a record as an elected official that actually generally matches his campaign positions.

RuralDem December 2, 2007 at 3:58 pm

Does Fred Thompson even know if he’s going to run yet? Sure, he is on the stage at the debates, but he looks like a deer in headlights.

One of the other candidates needs to introduce Thompson to their friend, charisma, because apparently Thompson and charisma have never met.

RuralDem December 2, 2007 at 4:07 pm

Oh, and I think Huckabee could draw a ton of support from independents and moderate/conservative Democrats, especially if Obama is the Democratic nominee.

Jason Pye December 2, 2007 at 4:10 pm

You do realize that Dick Morris isn’t being objective at all. He and Huckabee are friends and is giving him advice.

Bob Novak is dead on about Tax Hike Mike.

Rual Dem-

I think you are right -even if Hillary or Edwards gets it!

liberator December 2, 2007 at 5:16 pm

Ron Paul is the only true Conservative in the race. Vote Paul. Fred can’t beat Hillary.

Jason Pye December 2, 2007 at 5:20 pm

Huckabee is all style, no substance.

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 5:32 pm

I would vote for Ron Paul.

rugby_fan December 2, 2007 at 5:35 pm

But Ron Paul is fine letting people live their lives as consenting adults GOPeach.

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 5:38 pm

Ron Paul is 100% PRO LIFE!

He believes LIKE I DO that the Gay Civil Unions are addressed on a State level. That works!

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 5:53 pm

Rugby…

Are you… well you know…. how do I say this….
Do you like rugby games in San Francisco?

Jason Pye December 2, 2007 at 6:01 pm

But Ron Paul is fine letting people live their lives as consenting adults GOPeach.

Yep, that’s right. No social authoritarianism there.

rugby_fan December 2, 2007 at 6:21 pm

GOPeach:

No.

Sorry if you think everyone who feels that adults can make decisions on their own is gay.

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 6:30 pm

I just wondered.

I am not gay but I agree these decisions should be voted upon on a State level!

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 6:32 pm

I am not for social authoritarianism.

I am for LIFE, liberty, and then pursuit of happiness…

In THAT ORDER!

No Life – No Liberty & Happiness.

Ever heard of this group????

Mark Rountree December 2, 2007 at 6:36 pm

GOPeach,

Since Ron Paul is joining the Democrats and the Russians and the Chinese in demanding a fast pull out from Iraq, how do you square this with winning the war against Islamofascists?

Libertarians who put their head in the sand on this war are just as dangerous as Democrats. We need to win this war.

Let’s call a spade a spade: this guy is a fool. I respect libertarians who understand winning wars. But not this guy.

Mark Rountree December 2, 2007 at 6:39 pm

clarification: ” just as dangerous as Democrats” doesn’t mean all Democrats.

“just as dangerous as Democrats” as written above means “just as dangerous as Democrats who demand a fast pull out from Iraq” (Kucinich, Obama, Dean).

Carpe Forem December 2, 2007 at 7:00 pm

Mark,
You are misrepresenting Ron Paul. He believes in a strong national defense, (not offense or nation building). Like our constitution says, the congress shall declare war, when warranted. Then and only then the President as Commander in Chief, executes the war. Get in, win and get out. During peace time, we have open free trade and we lead the world by example, not by force. Look above, even Ronald Reagan got it right when talking about Paul. He and Reagan were good friends and very like minded and very similar to the Governor of SC, Mark Sanford. Bush senior use to accuse Reagan of being too libertarian. Just as his famous quote about the scariest thing an American can hear, “I’m with the government, and I’m here to help.” Small but strong, non intrusive government, just like Reagan, was/is Ron Paul’s ultimate goal.

Jace Walden December 2, 2007 at 7:02 pm

Mark,

Can you please clarify for the record how staying in Iraq is actually helping in the war against “islamofacism”?

Thanks.

Carpe Forem December 2, 2007 at 7:07 pm

Oh, and yes, I’ll be voting for Paul in Febuary and November, regardless of what happens in the primaries. Time for the era of BIG Government to truely end.

Chris December 2, 2007 at 7:15 pm

Carpe,

The best defense is a good offense. One of the major lessons to be taken from Europe in WWII is that its best to fight a war on someone else’s soil.

I probably agree with Dr. Paul on more issues than any other candidate. But I disagree with him on all the issues that he seems to focus on (Iraq, the Fed, NAFTA/Trade Agreements).

gatormathis December 2, 2007 at 7:25 pm

That Ms Thompson is actually “extremely” fine.

My only suggestion would be for the Senator to set his ratio at a minimum of 2 Geritol for every viagra taken.

Bull Moose December 2, 2007 at 7:56 pm

Look at where Thompson is campaigning most and see how the voters who are able to see him up close and personal are reacting.

In Iowa, Thompson is third place. In New Hampshire Thompson is in sixth place. In South Carolina, his so called bastion of strength, he is in fourth place.

Now as for his conservative credentials, Thompson is by no means the savior of the GOP nor is he the second coming of Ronald Reagan. Thompson is a nice guy and if he were just running as Fred Thompson he’d probably be doing better than those who want him to be Fred Reagan.

The truth of the matter is that the real and only consistent conservative in this race continues to be John McCain. McCain is the only candidate running who has taken tough stands on the important issues facing our country.

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 7:59 pm

Gator-

Maybe the reason Fred is so laid back is because that girl wears the poor boy slap out!!!

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 8:10 pm

I see what you mean about islamofacism -

This was sent to me on Veteran’s Day. I thought it was pretty good..

John McCain is the man to lead America
By PUBLISHER JOSEPH W. MCQUAID

21 hours, 48 minutes ago

On Jan. 8, New Hampshire Republicans will make one of the most important choices for their party and nation in the history of our presidential primary. Their choice ought to be John McCain.

We don’t agree with him on every issue. We disagree with him strongly on campaign finance reform. What is most compelling about McCain, however, is that his record, his character, and his courage show him to be the most trustworthy, competent, and conservative of all those seeking the nomination. Simply put, McCain can be trusted to make informed decisions based on the best interests of his country, come hell or high water.

Competence, courage, and conviction are enormously important for our next President to possess. No one has a better understanding of U.S. interests and dangers right now than does McCain. He was right on the mistakes made by the Bush administration in prosecuting the Islamic terrorist war in Iraq and he is being proved right on the way forward both there and worldwide.

McCain is pro-life. Always has been. He fights against special-interest and pork-barrel spending, and high spending in general, which ticks off liberals and many in the GOP who have wallowed at the public trough. Yet he also has the proven ability, unique among the contenders, to work across the political divide that has led our government into petty bickering when important problems need to be solved.

We have known John McCain for many years. We will write more about him in the days ahead. For now, we leave you with this to ponder:

When McCain was shot down and taken prisoner by the North Vietnamese, he was repeatedly beaten. When his captors discovered that his father was a top U.S. admiral, they ordered him released for propaganda purposes. But McCain refused, insisting that longer-held prisoners be released before him. So they beat him some more. He never gave in then, and he won’t give in to our enemies now.

John McCain is the man to lead America.

“Bomb random Muslim nations all you want”.

An important point is that Iraq was a secular Arab state before the invasion.

It may very well become a Muslim state.

GOPeach December 2, 2007 at 10:17 pm

McCain – Huckabee ….

Fighting Irish meets Brit Wit!

That’s interesting…. hummmm

rugby_fan December 2, 2007 at 10:43 pm

Yes, especially considering McCain is a Scotch name.

Listen Here December 2, 2007 at 10:53 pm

Well, I won’t be joining Eric. He must be enamored by that good looking gal on Thompson’s shoulder.

I can only give my vote to an ethical and principled statesman, Dr. Paul. It would be morally debase and an insult to conservative values to hand it to these politicians.

Everyone wants the commercial, sound bite friendly candidate to beat Clinton. Watch the woman, she’s going to crash and burn in a debate against Ron Paul.

Silly ole Eric… …why don’t you get back to complicating Georgia laws and attracting unwanted attention to Georgia with all your shenanigans?

My apology to all you Eric Johnson fan boys.

IndyInjun December 2, 2007 at 11:12 pm

If it is Huckersbee versus Hillary, will it be a race to see who can steal the most furniture from the executive mansion, as she did from the White House and he did from the Governor’s mansion in Little Rock?

Hail to the THIEF!

Bill Simon December 2, 2007 at 11:39 pm

If it wasn’t for those “gay civil unions,” we would not been attacked on 9/11 and Al-Quaidi in Iraq would be fighting with us against the insurgents.

(or so ignorant morons like GOPeach and ANYONE else who throws in the “gay civil unions” bullsh*t into an argument for or against any candidate think.)
