Boyer proposes new financial relationship for Grady and Emory.

From Sen. Shafer’s blog:

Commissioner Boyer

  1. Tommy_a2b says:

This plan by Commissioners Boyer, Stokes and Johnson sounds to be good. I hope Grady jumps on it. I did not realize Dekalb had anyone on there commission who could think without Snuggles telling them what to think. Maybe there is hope in Dekalb after all.

  2. Briardawg says:

Commissioner Boyer should be commended for asserting DeKalb County’s right to demand contractual common sense on behalf of Grady Hospital. I pray the other commissioners support this resolution. As a DeKalb County resident, and taxpaying supporter of Grady Hospital, I hope that the Grady Board proacts and immediately initiates these practical suggestions for the Emory contract; is it too much to ask that the Grady Board review all their contracts to ensure that all cost-saving measures are being implemented regardless of potential political implications?

  3. Chris says:

I’m glad to see the Dekalb board coming out in favor of Grady over Emory.

Kudos to Shafer for lighting a fire under their butts.

  4. Mark Rountree says:

Elaine Boyer is the only Republican elected to a county office in DeKalb. She has the toughest job in Georgia, but she puts coalitions together to win some of the big fights.

She helped put together he HOST (homestead option sales tax), which has simultaneously given homeowners massive property tax relief (they get a 100% homestead exemption from county operations property taxes) and blocked a bunch of spending increases. The county government is primarily paid for by a SALES tax.

She has also successfully blocking Vernon Jones many times on key votes.

And here’s my disclaimer: we’ve worked for her for a decade and a half. And here’s the other disclaimer: I personnally think she’s been an excellent county commissioner.

    Now, go fix Grady…
