This is not related in any way to Georgia politics, but I just have to share this one.

As some of you are aware, over at RedState we banned new Ron Paul supporters from the site. We still let them come, but the requirement is they engage the community and participate for a while without shilling for Ron, before they say they are voting for Ron Paul.

We’ve run into a problem in the past month where you could have a post up about a television show and, next thing you know, the comments were nothing but

Holly,

If the GOP membership had one ounce of principles left, Saxby Chambliss would not be running without party opposition.

His big-spending, big-government, restraint of liberty votes are legion and won’t be recounted here.

IndyInjun October 25, 2007 at 1:27 pm

Holly,

Great post BTW. Dr. Paul does stand for conservative principles, just not the GOP status quo that is leading America to ruin.

Erick, cannot take on Ron Paul on the financial affairs of the country and neither can Rudy McRompsonbee.

A whole host of conservative pundits like DeBorchgrave, Noonan, Will, Gold, Buchanan, Buckley and a lot more are telling it like it is – the GOP must die and be reborn.

The Erick Ericksons of the GOP lunatic base are blocking our way to retaking conservatism from the grasp of those who would take this great nation to ruin just for certain interests.

Nutty fits a party that runs up an unfunded entitlement of $8 trillion ($25,000 per capita) and endless war already estimated at more than $2 trillion ($8,000 per capita) This lunacy they were unwilling to pay for via taxation, so we are looking dead at inflation unlike anything this side of Zimbabwe. Dr. Paul is doing everything in his power to warn the people that they will be impoverished with a horrendous inflation tax.

The $US has lost 35% of its value in the last 7 years that these idiots have been in power.

Erick wants more of the same.

I oppose he and they with every fiber of my being. Not even Hillary is as ruinous as they.

I agree with Indy and Holly!

Holly:

Parties come and go.

It might be best to let the current Republican Party die.

StevePerkins October 25, 2007 at 2:03 pm

I do gently disagree with Jason and Indy on the point that the split between the GOP and economic conservatives is permanently irreparable. If I believed that, I wouldn’t bother showing up to GOP events in Gwinnett and attempting some small bit of olive-branch outreach. Face-to-face, I find the GOP grassroots much more welcoming and supportive of economic conservatives. It just hasn’t yet reached its way upward to the deeply entrenched party leadership, which seems scared to challenge the neocon status quo of the past couple decades.

I think the party will reach that tipping point, even if it takes another electoral ass-kicking or two to get it there. It’s important, at least for me, that Paul IS running AS A REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE. I think the notion his supporters are liberals-in-disquise, or that Paul is planning a 3rd-party campaign, is misguided and silly. Paul is evidence that there is still an economic conservative wing of the party that hasn’t been pushed out altogether just yet, and I’m cautiously optimistic that the pendulum will eventually swing back in that direction. I just don’t think that the Paul-bashing helps anyone in this light.

Steve,

The USA cannot afford to wait another election cycle.

If there are responsible people left in the GOP surely they must see this and DEMAND fresh blood and now.

I am voting for Indy/Holly in 08!

I’ll have to agree with Erick – that “I smell Hebrew” comment is pretty low, especially when you figure that the redneck that posted it is probably the first generation in his family to ever use soap, and now that Sonny is going shorten his once-a-month shower…

IndyInjun October 25, 2007 at 8:02 pm

GHT;

No question it was low. The question is, since when has a blogger like Erick become sensitive and selective enough to posting such. I mean internet incivility and crudity is ubiquitous.

ondichliberty88 October 25, 2007 at 9:05 pm

Does anyone get of bored talking and hearing of the Republican Party. I am suprised there hasn’t been more discussion tops on the Democratic Party, Libertarian Party, or Unity 08. etc. I hear that Former Georgia US Senator Sam Nunn is possily going to run for President as Unity 08 instead every other post is about calling Ron Paul a anti-semite and unamerican, or paying lip service to Mitt Romney, Rudy Giulliani and Mike Huckabee now Red State is a real case of shilling to the pro-war imperialist crowd.

IndyInjun October 25, 2007 at 9:21 pm

ODL88,

I think my posts would not lead to the impressi0n that I am enamored with the GOP right now.

Yes, Unity 08 waits in the wings to pick up where Dr. Paul left off – IF he fades away!

Indies, libertarians, and fiscal conservatives are looking elsewhere than the two corrupt national parties, so Unity 08 might elect the first third party candidate.

And it won’t come a moment too soon.

ondichliberty88 October 25, 2007 at 9:50 pm

IndyInjun,
Thank You. I thought Peach Pundit was becoming the O’Reily Factor or Hannity and Colmes. Believe me IndyInjun unity 08 could save our country. I can’t wait for the Unity 08 online primary to nominate a true alternative I think its mid next year. If you or anyone want to participate in Unity 08 please visit http://www.unity08.com/.

StevePerkins October 26, 2007 at 12:17 am

I’m on the Unity08 mailing list (hell, I think I’m actually a “delegate” for their online “convention”… whatever that really means). However, although I was intrigued when I first heard of the idea… I’ve pretty much lost interest. From what I can gather, “unity” pretty much consists of “not taking an actual position on anything”. All that organization does is conduct surveys of which issues are important to its members, without actually taking any positions or putting forth ideas on how to deal with those issues. Every time they run a survey on who they should nominate, freaking Stephen Colbert either wins or comes close. I’ve seen no numbers at all on their fundraising strength or organizational infrastructure (I get the impression it’s just a website and that OTHER guy from Law & Order). I’ve pretty much reached the conclusion that it’s a well-intentioned joke.

As for the Libertarian Party… it will always hold a dear place in my heart, occasional beligerent nuttyness or not. However, in Georgia the state Democratic Party is already filling the “minor 3rd-party” void.

ondichliberty88 October 26, 2007 at 8:32 am

Steve Perkins,
The Democratic Party has never filled a minor third party void. There is only truly few states where 3rd parties make qualifications for primaries and ballot access every 2 and 4 years. Example: The Independence Party of Minnesota. The Independence Party has the ballot access and primaries every 2 years like the Republican Party and the Democratic Farmer-Laborer Party because the Independence Party was offshoot of the Reform Party and was the political party Former Minnesota Governor Jessie Ventura after he left the Reform Party. Minnesota has had a history of third party governors. Floyd B. Olsen was a third party governor served from 1931-1936 followed by Hjalmar Peterson 1936-1937. They both were Farmer-Labor Party before the Farmer-Labor Party merged with the Democratic Party in 1948 to form the modern day Democratic Farmer-Laborer Party (DFL) under Hubert Humphrey who later became US Senator From Minnesota that year then Vice President under LBJ administration in 1965.

ondichliberty88 October 26, 2007 at 8:36 am

Former Minnesota Governor Jessie Ventura help create the Independence Party.

Isn’t it a little strange to ban Ron Paul supporters for their inappropriate comments on a site, and then make a front page post out of their comments about being banned from a site?

Seems a little ridiculous. I am surprised at the thin-skinned attitude RedState seems to be adopting lately. What happened to the days when they could best the challenge of any trouble making commentor?

I’m kind of disappointed in their decision to ban a group of people rather than act like a… well… a BLOG!

Not something to be proud of, unfortunately.

Bill Simon October 29, 2007 at 10:58 am

“Nuttier than a fruitcake”…a cliche that isn’t one. “Fruitier than a fruitcake” would make a whole heckuva lot more sense.

Chris Farris October 29, 2007 at 12:46 pm

Fruitcakes have nuts….

PAUL. Nothing here directly connects the dots … but it seems rather curious how excited neo-Nazis, skinheads and white supremacists are in support of Congressman Ron Paul’s (R) Presidential candidacy. Stormfront — the web’s leading Neo-Nazi/Skinhead website run by white supremacist leader Don Black — displays a “Ron Paul Revolution” banner ads on the footer of each page. Also check out David Duke’s WhiteCivilRights.com site, which prominently publishes articles authored by Ron Paul on the homepage — along with Paul campaign updates and pictures of Paul campaign events. Why no denunciation of these hate groups by Paul? Pretty scary stuff. (Note: Thanks to our blog posters, as I found these links in yesterday’s blog thread.)

just an interesting little side note to this particular vignette found this post on politics1.com about these very same people…

bowersville November 1, 2007 at 12:09 am

So why should the financial/verbal/website support of the white supremacist/neo Nazi/skinheads be of concern? Aren’t they pro-Zionist type organizations?

Surely David Duke and like ilk didn’t mistake Paul’s anti-Zionist views as being anti-semitic did they?

Drjay, a perfect opportunity for Paul to clear the fog surrounding his perceived anti-Semitic statements, but Paul passes the buck to his campaign director, an example of lack of leadership at it’s worst.

I guess the nonpaul revolution didn’t want to offend the voters among the anti-Semites.

Jason Pye November 1, 2007 at 8:01 am

Haha…speaking of David Duke, someone claiming to be him is leaving comments on Ron Paul posts over at The Liberty Papers, we are a Zionist conspiracy, you know.

I’m through with Ron Paul.

drjay November 1, 2007 at 1:06 pm

more pot stirring–politicalwire is reporting that the huge groundswell of support on the internets for ronpaul may be fabricated by the use of spambots and other online trickery to make it appear he is perhaps more popular than he really is…hmmm…

The KKKers and Stormfronters are the GOP base, have been since Barry Goldwater.

Bill Simon November 2, 2007 at 12:38 pm

Trash,

Right…and Robert Byrd was right there with Barry, right?

IndyInjun November 2, 2007 at 1:02 pm

This is the same GARBAGE that was pulled on Pat Buchanan in 1992.

If there are any folks practicing Nazi techiques it is the power-loving GOP, a group that has abandoned all principles in its thirst to retain power.

Dr. Paul is your last chance for survival as a national party and you try to slime him with branding straight out of the Joe Geobbels playbook.

Look at the Pew Poll as reported in Politico.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1107/6671.html

The Indies, Fiscal Conservatives, Libertarians, and Constitutionalists can no longer stomach the GOP.

We are coming after you, one way or another.

If you force us to vote for Hillary, that is the price we will just have to pay to rid this great nation of your sorry asses.

GodHatesTrash November 2, 2007 at 1:51 pm

Robert Byrd is a wheeler dealer who brings home the bacon for the lazy uneducated trash of West Virginia – where would that state be without welfare and federal spending?

In 1964, Senator Byrd lead the filibuster against the Civil Rights Act – like Byrd, Senator Goldwater voted against it too.

Why? Because they both were courtin’ the redneck vote, which they both got…
