So, is this an in kind contribution to Romney or to Rudy?

by Erick on October 16, 2007

Something tells me that this Log Cabin Republican ad isn’t actually supposed to be an endorsement of Romney, but it certainly hints at what Hillary will do to him in the General Election.

Abortion is not the only flip flop

Carpe Forem 10.16.07 at 3:21 pm

The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.

In 40 years of medical practice, I never once considered performing an abortion, nor did I ever find abortion necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman.

In Congress, I have authored legislation that seeks to define life as beginning at conception, HR 1094.

I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn.

I have also authored HR 1095, which prevents federal funds to be used for so-called

I think this ad is brilliant strategy on the part of the LCRs. They don’t like Romney for his wildly conservative swing since declaring his run for president, and they correctly assessed that the best way to hit him in the primary is to scare the social conservative base, rather than to scream “intolerance.” Very smart of them.

memberg 10.16.07 at 3:26 pm

Not to be uncouth, but why is abortion an issue to LCRs?

debbie0040 10.16.07 at 3:32 pm

The LCRs are ticked off because Romney courted their vote when he was running for Senate and now he is running away from their vote.

It doesn’t really matter why the ad was run. I believe that Romney is sincere in his beliefs now but the flip flops concern me.

What matters is the fact Hillary will move to the center/right after she wins the Democratic Nomination. How can we scream flip flop and accuse Hillary of saying anything to get elected if Romney is the nominee?

RuralDem 10.16.07 at 3:49 pm

I hope y’all select Romney as the GOP nominee. I’ve seen this ad on TV like 20 times in the past few weeks.

Hilarious.

Holly 10.16.07 at 4:06 pm

Whether Romney is sincere or not in his beliefs, my point was that their messaging was appropriate to accomplish their goals. There wasn’t anymore to it. :-)

Memberg, I’m not sure where the LCRs stand on abortion, but I’m not sure it matters here. Their goal was to scare social conservatives away from Romney. How best to do that? Abortion flip-flops.

BubbaRich 10.16.07 at 4:17 pm

Debbie,
Hillary already IS in the center/right. The only thing that paints her as a left winger is right wingnut propaganda. Bush is further left than she is.

debbie0040 10.16.07 at 5:02 pm

Hillary may perhaps be a little to the right of Michael Moore but that is about as far right as she is. She is not even center.

Left wing nuts like Soros , Franken, Sheehan ( in my opinion publicity whor* Sheehan), Moore control the Democratic party . Do you think they would support Hillary if she were not a left winger like them?

Baby bonds, yea that is real conservative….

debbie0040 10.16.07 at 5:03 pm

I agree their intent was to harm Romney and I can imagine we will be seeing these same clips in political advertisement in the future. Wonder which candidate will run them first?

debbie0040 10.16.07 at 5:04 pm

Bubbarich, Roll Tide!!

Brian Laurens 10.16.07 at 6:03 pm

Response AD:

Who exactly is the LCR? Let’s take a look. …

And Romney should start that add immediately ;)

RuralDem 10.16.07 at 6:26 pm

Um, didn’t he write a letter supporting them back then as well? (Maybe I’m wrong)

If so then that ad would make him look a little less credible.

If that’s even possible.

GodHatesTrash 10.16.07 at 6:39 pm

Rudi and Romney have both flip-flopped more than Dumbya on a man-date with Jeff Gannon/Guckert!

John Konop 10.16.07 at 7:25 pm

Can Rudy defend his past?

This video is tuff on Rudy!

The Log Cabin Republicans believes the government has to control endorsing individual lifestyles. I believe neither Government or Corporations should intervene for or against a individual’s life style. I will no longer be ondichliberty88. I will be known as Independent Minnesota, so if anyone responds to my future posts. That will be the new name or probably it will be displayed by then.

ondichliberty88 10.16.07 at 8:56 pm

Konop does not like Rudy”911″ Giuliani agreeable, but He is probably for Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson. Picking from one media puppet to another this why I am a Independent.

ondichliberty88 10.16.07 at 8:57 pm

I am a Independent that supports Ron Paul

Letter in the Washington Times today:

Christians should vote their conscience

I am a Christian. I am a conservative. I believe in the democratic process and believe it is the moral imperative that devout Christians involve themselves in the political process to make our society more fair and just for all.

Like most Christian conservatives, I gather information from Christian commentators in the media to help me cast my vote. As a responsible Christian, I am required to put all their words into passionate scrutiny to prevent the perversion of our faith.

My passion for seeing Christian values advanced in the political realm is matched only by my disappointment in those who represent those values but then sell them out for status or, even worse, money.

It has become obvious that Tony Perkins, Gary Bauer, Richard Land and James Dobson have sold their influence over Christian voters to the highest bidder. They are trying to destroy every Republican candidate except multimillionaire Mitt Romney, with the hope that he somehow will become our only choice. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Mr. Romney was pro-abortion, pro-gun control and pro-gay civil union as governor of Taxachusetts.

American Christian voters will show these Christian leaders that we are sophisticated enough to recognize when a Christian leader has sold his influence.

We will not turn the presidential race into a plutocracy that makes it about how rich a candidate is instead of about the character and principles the candidate will bring to the presidency.

debbie0040 10.17.07 at 7:44 am

Romney flipped on other issues besides abortion. IE:Gay rights, Reagan Administration

Look at the entire debate that took place in 1994. The Boy Scouts are mentioned.

The debate video is only five minutes long, you should watch it. Imagine the political ads that will run with some of these quotes by Romney…

ondichliberty88 10.17.07 at 8:28 am

I am keeping ondichliberty88 on Peach Pundit. Independent MN is my name at Control Congress.

ondichliberty88 10.17.07 at 8:34 am

I am a Independent during Bush-Cheney does that make me a flip-flop GOP presidential candidate 20 years from now. Sarcasm. Okay He talks out of both ends of his anus. What Career Politician doesn’t? Nothing we don’t know by now.

I have not made up my mind at this point.

I’m tired of pro-illegal immigration and gays trying to take our party from us. Where has conservatism gone? Maybe if we shared, on this blog, all of those closet gays they’ll be minimalized. They run an add like this then pretend they’re not gay.

Erick 10.17.07 at 9:25 am

True Conservative, you quote this:

It has become obvious that Tony Perkins, Gary Bauer, Richard Land and James Dobson have sold their influence over Christian voters to the highest bidder. They are trying to destroy every Republican candidate except multimillionaire Mitt Romney

Let’s see, Perkins is not committed. Bauer is with Thompson. Land is with Thompson. Dobson is uncommitted but flirting with Huckabee.

Try to get your facts straight.

TrueConservative 10.17.07 at 10:38 am

God is dealing with Dobsons heart, But a simple internet search of Dobsons comments will reveal that He met with Romney early this year and said that Romney is on the list(The only candidate on this short list). How does a Christian leader even consider a member of a dangerous cult? Logic would lead you to money.
Here is a recent artcle:
By Michael Kranish, Globe Staff | October 5, 2007

WASHINGTON - Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has stepped up his efforts to woo evangelicals in response to the threat by some Christian conservative leaders
Sign up for: Globe Headlines e-mail | Breaking News Alerts The third-party threat grew yesterday after a key evangelical leader, James Dobson, said that he and other social conservatives had agreed to support a “minor party” candidate if the Republicans choose a presidential nominee who is not conservative enough.

Dobson’s statement is viewed as significant in the Romney campaign because Dobson has ruled out supporting GOP candidates John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson, but has left open the possibility of supporting Romney.

As for Perkins, he came out FOR romney before counseling us to consider Thomson.

FRC’s Perkins Suggests Romney Better Than Huckabee on Religious-Right Issues:
Here is quote from Perkins that article
And while some right-wing activists are hoping that the Religious Right will coalesce around one of their second-tier favorites

TrueConservative 10.17.07 at 10:49 am

As for Land I have heard him speak very fondly of Mitt Romney for a couple of months now.
Check him out on youtube? Someone who truly lives out his faith cannot support Mitt and Land sold out. He should have told the truth about his record and the cult that he is involved with. Like, everyone else, there is foregiveness for those that genuinely seek it. His grace is given freely and generously every day.

juliesme 10.17.07 at 12:18 pm

True Conservative

“a dangerous cult?” Looks like you got the talking points directly from Mr. 9-11 himself. Or should we call him Mr. “i shed blood on 9-11″. I’m waiting for Rudy to roll up his pants leg and show us all a scar he got when one of his kids, who wont even talk to him, kicked him 20 years ago.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson as the top choices in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Giuliani is now supported by 27% of Likely Republican Primary Voters while Fred Thompson is the top choice for 21%. Mitt Romney is the favorite for 14% while John McCain is at 10%. Mike Huckabee is now supported by 7% (see recent daily numbers). This suggests that Thompson survived his first debate while not stealing the show.

The first Rasmussen Reports poll of the Iowa caucus shows Romney in the lead trailed by Thompson, Huckabee, and Giuliani. Romney also leads in the first primary election state, New Hampshire.

Who is True Conservative supporting again? What flawless candidate that walks on water, which candidate that has only been married once and has been pro life since the day he was born? Who is this miracle candidate that True Conservative is succumbing too? Tell us oh TC so that we too can come and worship.
