I never thought I’d be able to say that, but it happened last night and the Mayor confirmed it this morning. He says that given the current bond market, he has decided not to sign the bond deal for the Nobel Investment hotel deal, which in effect kills the deal.
He’ll leave it to the new administration to sort out the situation.
What this apparently boils down to is that the City Council voted to restrict Mayor Ellis’s spending. He vetoed the bill, but Council overrode his veto. So now, in retribution, he’s killed the deal.
I’ll take what I can get!
