We Need Canals, Not Trains

How can Commodore Jack Kidd sail his ship to Chattanooga without locks and channels, mates? Instead, the government is considering trains. But hardly anyone showed up to hear them talk about it.

The three routes being considered: west out of the Atlanta airport into western Douglas County, north through Rockmart and Rome and into I-75 south of Calhoun; I-75 or I-85 from the airport into I-75 with local stops at the Georgia Dome, Cumberland and Town Center malls; or I-75 to just north of Cartersville, bending about 20 miles east and returning to I-75 north of Ringgold.

Hearings are tonight in Rome and Thursday in Chattanooga.

    Ahoy Mateys!!!!

Canals and locks is a good thing……………

……………iffens you got enough water to run em………..

……but with the weather we’ve been having the last few years, I guess you could call it an intermittant shipping way.

Woe be unto them that got up the river without enough water to get back down……
