Clinton, Thompson lead in Georgia

In the American Research Group poll released today, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Fred Thompson are tops in their respective fields for the Democratic and Republican presidential primary in the Peach State.

According to the poll, which included a sample size of 600 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4%, the former First Lady leads her closest rival by 10 points. On the Republican side, Fred Thompson holds a 7 point lead over former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani. [Source: 8/7/2007 American Research Group “Georgia Democratic Presidential Preference” poll]

    Think again.

I read this on your blog, I’ve read it here, and I’ve read your source. I still can’t figure out your math. At best, you’ve got 41% vs 29% – a 12% difference. Hillary has a healthy lead 8 months away from the primary, I give you that. As we get closer to the date, the numbers will shift, some minor players may drop out and more people will make up their minds. Way too early to call. I’ll start watching polls after Christmas…then a post like this could be considered news.

When the Democrats start to realize that Hillary’s nearly 50% negative rating comes from Republicans and (more inportantly) independents, they may start jumping ship. You can’t win with the 30% of the voters that call themselves Democrats.

Doug: I’m with you on that one….I think she can win the nomination, I just don’t know that she is electable. Of course, the Republicans could implode, but its usually us Dems that are famous for doing that. I don’t think I can stand a third knucklebiter (yes, I’ve bitten my nails down that far). So for me, Clinton vs Obama means nothing… I want to know Clinton vs Romney, vs Guiliani, etc. Maybe a Dark Horse Richardson could do it….wasn’t Clinton a DH after Gary Hart got caught?

Gosh, I long for the days of Gary Hart. Sam Nunn, how about Sam Nunn?

  5. Doug Deal says:

Either way, I want this election to be a blowout. Close elections means people think they only have to do “little things” to get over the top. A blowout will finally get one or the other to realize how adrift they have been.
