I’m always suspicious of these things

A government owned radio station in Jefferson, GA. It is certainly a novel way to raise money for the local government — competing in the free market with a radio station — but I’m always concerned that over time the pure motives of the government will give way to the more common lesser motives of government and corrupt the intent of the station.

Likewise, of course, have they considered that they’re going to have to pay taxes now? I hope they accounted for the cost of the accountant.

But, credit to Jefferson for thinking different instead of raising taxes.

[UPDATE:] Jeff Emanuel tells me he’s the station director. Very cool. That, of course, means the station will be pro-America, pro-free market, and anti-college Republicans.

Well, I suspect Radio Jefferson will, you know, be pro-America. And, an argument could be made that it is a good community building tool. It looks like that will be their focus.

True. IOW, pro-conscience and pro-intellect. And anti-college republicans? Well, perhaps. Though I think UGA still has Chris Lindsey, who is, well, anti-everything-but-himself, and I think Chris would be disappointed if this role was stripped from him.

I’d love to come on Emanuel’s show as GAWire and discuss our mutual affection for CRs!

It seems my ability to communicate perspicuously has diminished. So I rephrase lest my previous paragraph unintentionally and inappropriately insinuate a divestiture of previous intent. Paragraph should have read:

True. IOW, pro-conscience and pro-intellect. And anti-college republicans? Well, perhaps. Though I think UGA still has Chris Lindsey, who is, well, anti-everything-but-himself. I think Chris would be disappointed if someone disregards the CR’s louder than himself.

My apologies for lapses of mental clarity.
