Technical Question

We use Akismet Spam filtering here at Peach Pundit, but it has a habit of trapping perfectly good comments. I just released one by Rugby_Fan.

I’m thinking Akismet must die. But, before killing it off, I was wondering about alternatives. On my personal site I use a random number generator. I was wondering if you guys would object to such a thing here at Peach Pundit.

Please let me know what you think.

I have a fw quibbles with random number generators.

    1. Sometimes the numbers are not really readable.
    2. They also expire relatively quickly.

    Very much off the subject.
    Peach Pundit is ubiquitous.
I am using a computer on a Ranch in Dubois Wyoming in the middle of nowhere on a family vacation.
I begin to type in the url and up pops PP in the history bar.
The chances of that have to be slim as this is wilderness out here.
It seems the Cowboys and the Mountain men are aware of your site and visit.

  3. Chris says:

I’m suprised Bull Moose’s comments don’t get caught in there all the time. 🙂

And Rugby, since you’re a spammer, I need some vicodin. Could you hook me up?

  4. rugby_fan says:

Send me your credit card info and SSN, I promise I’m more trustworthy than both the disposed King of Sierra Leone and the son of Nigeria’s king.

  5. Demonbeck says:

If I have to type in random numbers each and every time I post, I am going to post a heck of a lot less.

  6. Amber says:

You can install a version of Akismet with a “whitelist” feature, where you can permanently mark certain email addresses or domains as not spam. That’s what I have on my blog. Prior to installing it, there were a few commenters whose comments routinely got caught by Akismet, even though I always marked them “not spam.”
