The New License Plate

I have seen the new Georgia License Plate.

I think it really nice that the state allows special needs children to design the plate.

I assume that explains it. A real designer would, I assume, know that Garamond isn’t the best choice for a license plate font.

Years of being a type design nerd.

I can also spot the differences between Helvetica and Arial — Helvetica being the superior choice.

When I was little, I thought we changed because the state ran out of letter / number combinations. However, now, since I have the old license plate (no, not the now-old silver one; the old white one that has the state motto on it) and no one’s told me to give it back, I have to assume that we’ve still got some letters and numbers to go, so that can’t be the case. . .
