The NRA likes Whitehead

(Even though he isn’t Charlie Norwood, and didn’t serve in the military. I don’t know, ask Paul Broun.)

In a letter of endorsement sent to Whitehead yesterday (.pdf file), Executive Director Chris Cox said:

On behalf of our nearly four million members, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse your candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in the special election in Georgia’s Tenth Congressional District.
[…]
Based on your legislative record int he Georgia Senate, as well as your responses to our federal candidate questionnaire, you have earned an “A+” rating from the NRA-PVF. We urge our members and other gun owners and sportsmen to vote for you for Congress on June 19th.

Ouch; this has got to hurt Paul Broun. This pic isn’t quite the same as an endorsement from the organization itself, is it?

Ahhh, the Broun photo . . . I remember the good old days of grabbing my rifle, putting on my best plain front cotton Dockers and my professionally-pressed, classic linen Polo oxford and heading out to take down some big game.

I like Sen Whitehead as well as Broun and Greene (good camo colors) but if I were him I would send that one back this year.

Keep in mind I am a life member of the NRA.
