Georgia’s primary is now on February 5th…

…And according to the Secretary of State’s office, “you may request an absentee ballot as early as 180 days before an election,” meaning that it’s conceivable that Georgians might start casting their votes for the primary later on this year.

Georgia joined a a growing list of states holding early presidential primaries when Gov. Sonny Perdue signed a bill Tuesday that pushed the state’s primaries up by a month. Georgia moves presidential primary to Feb. 5, joins national movement

On a slightly related note, let me take this opportunity to say that these new “blockbuster” books that are about to come out on Hillary are just more of the same from the 90s.

You know the deal…the Clintons’ marriage is an arranged one; Bill is still cheating; Hillary’s cold and calculating. We heard all this stuff in the 90s and both Bill & Hillary’s approval ratings went up.

Listen, if the best y’all can do is re-hash the past, then y’all might as well hang it up because it ain’t gonna work.

    Andre,

This is going to be a very interesting political season. You are right that all of the books coming out have old charges against the Clintons, and I do not think that they will have any influence. I do think that Clinton will try to destroy Obama, and she will probably succeed.

Unfortunately for Clinton, she keeps opening her mouth and saying things that are best described as Socialistism.

The GOP is not much better off. They are attemping to implode over immigration. It would appear that it may come down to which second tier Dem and which second tier Rep says the fewest stupid things.

The Clinton’s approval ratings went up in spite of “all this stuff in the 90’s” because of the force of Bill Clinton’s personality, not because of the information that was revealed about him and Hillary. Hillary doesn’t have that, and this kind of information can hurt her, especially to the voters she’s trying to attract the most (single female voters).

Hillary’s supporters are far more interested in the concept of Hillary than they are in the woman herself. When a lot of them wake up to the reality of the kind of person she actually is, then she’ll lose a lot of their votes.

This is why I think Obama is doing so well, he’s the personable, charismatic alternative to Hillary.

What braintrust thought it would be good to move our state up so early? I don’t think it’s a positive thing. In fact, I think it’s awful that all of these states have moved up their various primaries as early as they have. What an insult to democracy.

i agree whole heartedly bull-the entire “front loaded” primary season is ridiculous and i think counter productive to what the powers that be think they are accomplishing–stretching every thing back out is they way to actually increase the importance of the individual primaries…

Just saw on CNN, politico.com is reporting Fred Thompson will announce the formation of an exploratory committee on June 4 with an aim to announce candidacy on July 4th.

Andre, I know you’re trying to be a moderate Democrat and all. I know you’re trying very hard to accomplish this goal, but you become a moderate Dem by supporting moderate ideas and candidates; not just by allowing the Republican mantra about Democratic candidates to become yours. I’m not trying to be rude, but your blogs are a constant source of frustration to me, and this one was not an exception.

Agreed that there’s nothing in Hillary’s past that’s going to change voter’s minds about her, but she’s so cold on stage and in person that I don’t think she’ll be able to pull it off. Lot’s of voters like the “idea” of Hillary as president, but I don’t think people will go for the real thing once she’s received all the exposure that a full national campaign brings.

I think everyone knows all the dirt on the Clintons… Did we really need to have a few books rehash it all over again? Seems like someone just wanted to make some more money… How do people sleep at night after making so much money fueld on hate…
