He (Bill Ledee) pleaded guilty to federal charges including fraud and money laundering and was sentenced to 70 months in jail. He will be sent to prison sometime in the next two months, one of his attorneys, Marcia Shein, said.
Ledee also has to forfeit more than $10 million in cash and real estate.
U.S. Attorney David E. Nahmias said Ledee “victimized more than a thousand people who were seeking legitimate insurance coverage. Many of the victims are doctors who need that coverage to provide critical care to their patients. [Ledee] compromised the integrity of the entire system by his greed.”
Ledee did not respond to an interview request made through one of his attorneys.
