Delta Air Lines executives will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange this morning as the company’s new post-bankruptcy stock begins trading. But they’ll do it from the Atlanta airport.

The exchange didn’t send the actual bell — a brass-and-silver symbol of capitalism since 1903 — to Atlanta for the ceremonial ringing that often accompanies new stock issues. Instead, it sent an electronic button.
