So my laptop hard drive died three weeks ago. When I got it back, it had a short in it that it did not previously have. I needed it desperately and could not take it to be repaired further. Last week, I took it back in for repair on a Tuesday and I still have not gotten it back.
I am desperate for my precious. Until then, however, blogging will continue to be uneven.

Last week, I just dropped my laptop on the NIC card, and it soved it up into the PCMIA slot and broke my mother board. So I feel your pain.
Sadly, all new laptops come with Vista, and its 2 GB recommended RAM, so I think I may just buy an Intel based Mac, and install XP and dual boot it.

Doug, that sounds like an excellent idea to me!

It’s okay to be jealous, RF!

Erick,
Just go get Beaker and Dr. Bunson to fix it for you.

Demon,
My philosophy is that you can fix (or break) anything with a hammer and a roll of duct tape.

Doug–by all means–get a Mac, but do not install any form of Windows!
Why buy a far superior machine only to weigh it down with an inferior (and vulnerable) operating system?
So get a Mac, but run OSX. You’ll be glad you did.

If you must run windows, let me suggest Parallels. It allows you to run a virtual machine under OSX (Intel only) and you can install XP or Linux. I use it because I haven’t dropped the $1k it would cost to convert my Dreamweaver license.

IamJP,
Well, that would be foolish of me, as I am a Windows developer. I suppose I could grow long hair and star smoking pot and become a 100% Mac user.

Windows developer? Oh, you’re one of those guys in the white shirt/black tie at Best Buy. Those VW Bugs are sweet.

You only get a Bug when you are promoted to first class Geek. Until then, it’s a B/W Vespa.
