More on Iraq

by Erick on April 30, 2007

Jeff and Victoria are still at it. Jeff has been outside the comfort of the Green Zone with the troops as they clear neighborhoods. He’ll have some later about his talks with Iraqi civilians. You can read all about it here.

Isn’t this AJC newsworthy? A UGA undergrad raised money to go to Iraq and blog and Paul Harvey refers to him as the next Ernie Pyle.

“Isn’t this AJC newsworthy?”

You’re kidding right? Maybe on a slow newsday when no washed-up past American Idol contestants have been arrested.

my you are giving the ajc an awful lot of credit that i’m not sure they are worthy of…

That would be real news if the AJC reported on this.

What is going on? Who are Jeff and Victoria, and why is what they are doing newsworthy?

Erick 04.30.07 at 3:44 pm

Federalist, they are two non-journalists who took their laptops to Iraq to cover the war for RedState.

Jeff’s writings from the front line, embedded with the troops, has been praised by Paul Harvey.

Jeff is an undergrad at UGA.

I respect that Jeff has the integrity to go to Iraq and see for himself, but he still comes off as wearing rose-colored glasses. His patrol has a vehicle knocked out by a bomb. The tow truck that comes to get them is also hit by a bomb, and they are under constant sniper fire. But it’s OK, because troop morale is still high.

Perhaps they are driven by more than just partisan politics Bill_k.

Perhaps these soldiers are emboldened by the victory they are creating one house at a time.
