be careful of politicos bearing straw polls–i could very easily end up supporting DA branch if he runs–but i remember all the straw polls phil gramm won in 96–and huckabee won one at the county convention in spartanburg sc the same day this straw occurred…

Here’s what I received from the Huckabee campaign:

Spartanburg County, SC – Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee beat out Republican competition Saturday by more than 400 points at the Spartanburg County convention, reflecting growing momentum for his possible 2008 White House bid in South Carolina. Huckabee pulled in 3522 points, followed by Rudy Guiliani with 3161.

Huckabee also came in second place in a straw poll in Greenville County with 111 votes. Mitt Romney placed first with 132.

You know there were three CRs in the audience who were just giggling as all get out about their 3 ballots for Jim Gilmore.

The last several Republican presidential candidates who have gone on to win the White House have all won the SC primary, so that’s why they’re so hyped about the straw polls.

I think it’s far too early to tell, but I understand the Huckabee campaign wanting to make it a big deal.

Why yes, yes she does. And i’m sorry…I will never speak French again. But I stand by the rest of my comment.
