Hey Mr. Speaker

A Special Session is a done deal. You guys should pound the gavel, beat the Senate out of town, and when you show up for the Special Session remind everyone of this bit in the Constitution.

All bills for raising revenue, or appropriating money, shall originate in the House of Representatives.

If the Governor and Senate are going to screw you guys, remind them who actually represents the people.

Did everyone forget that both chambers have to vote to adjourn sine die simultaneously? Today may get more interesting yet, good sources indicate that work on a finished, proper FY 08 budget is nearly complete. If the Senate and House can reach a deal by 7pm tonight, the General Assembly will be able to vote on FY 08 around 11pm.

    any exceptions to simultaneous adjournment?

like, not passing a conference committee report of the 08 ?

  3. Erick says:

Oh Inside_Man, the Speaker can declare no deal on the 08 budget and tell his folks to head on home. Just because there hasn’t been concurrent adjournment does not mean much in the grand scheme of things.

Good point, compared to everything else that went on today, that’d be par for the course.
