Amazing

It’s 10:18 p.m. and the House and Senate are still at it. The House is still dealing with resolutions. The Speaker is talking as fast as he can.

The House is on SB 114 and the Senate is on HB 419.

They all look punch drunk or really drunk. I have both feeds going on my laptop at the same time.

Notice that the House feed rarely shows the Speaker’s chair and the Senate frequently shows the Lt. Gov.

Ouch. I see an intern stumbling. He might have gotten a head start.

10:22: Oh Lord, Austin Scott is speaking now and he’s not capable of speaking fast.

Whew. Thank God that didn’t take long.

10:24: I just noticed that the voting screen in the House has the name of the Speaker lit up in the bottom right hand corner. Is that for the Representatives of the Short Bus Districts?

10:30: The most amazing thing is that given all the animosity between the House and Senate, they’re both passing bills with overwhelming majorities.

And now I’m going to bed. It’s been a fun day.

10:32: Great moment of levity. Rep. Billy Horne wanted to know when they were going to get the Governor to come in and give the Sine Die speech. The Speaker appointed Horne as a committee of one and Horne promptly declined. The Speaker laughed and said someone ought to go get the Governor.

Now they’re talking Budget. The Speaker isn’t happy with the amount.

And now I really am going to bed.

10:36: The House and Senate are now concurrently debating the budget.

And now I really am going to bed.

Am I the only one out here who is just outright embarrassed at this entire republican leadership? The gov, the speaker, the LG, their leadership team, all of them. This is what we fought so hard for? A bunch of children trying to prove they’re important????

    I’m just disgusted.

  5. The process is working. The leadership in both bodies did their best at promoting the agenda’s they had established.

Consider, the Governor and Lt. Gov. won statewide elections promoting initiatives. The Speaker of the House, didn’t run a statewide campaign, was elected by the House. Don’t you think these statewide elected individuals initiatives should be given consideration?

Had they backed down the same people who are calling them weak and petty would be calling them weak, spineless and petty. Frankly, whether you like their position or not, they ran a tight ship. Is it always pretty? Heck no, it’s not necessarily supposed to be.
