Good for Vick.

Michael Vick has taken flack for some things he’s done on and off the field recently (and rightly so) but he’s done a good thing here:

Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has teamed up with the United Way to donate $10,000 to assist families affected by the massacre at Virginia Tech, his former school.

“When tragic things like this happen, families have enough to deal with, and if I can help in some small way, that’s the least I can do,” said Vick, who played for the Hokies before being drafted No. 1 overall by the Falcons in 2001.

I wonder what VT will do with the $1,500 they get from the United Way.

He makes way more than 10k per snap. He may even make 10k per second of the game clock. Don’t forget about his endorsements.

So, why didn’t Vick give $100,000?

No matter how much Vick makes, I don’t think anyone but he should decide how much he gives to a particular cause. I agree that $10k from him is not really worth a lot of news coverage, but I would think it’s worth appreciating and not right to disparage.

I applaud his donation to help these families.
